Robotics Nick Names?

hey, i was just wondering if any other team creates nick names for pretty much every1 on their team by the end of the season. if so whats ur name? ill start it off by announcing im called kerPLUNK! rather then annoucing the reason y im going to plead the 5th.

for the most part we don’t have nick names - we usually use last names only though (and that includes when we talk to adults)…though we use on of our teacher’s professional windsurfing nick name sometimes - “The Chubster”

last year it was bumper guy, this year it’s omni guy…

See my screen name. I’d tell you why, but what happens in the hotel stays in the hotel.

The nickname I got in FIRST became my real name in high school. More people called me Ogre than Jeff.
Everyone on robotics calles me Ogre, everyone on Lacrosse called me Ogre.
It’s just now starting to wear off.
Of the other nicknames i can remeber from the team (not related to actual names)
Stupi
Beaker
That’s all I can remeber off the top of my head. It was mostly last/first names or spanish translations of names, don’t ask why.

“Nug” shortned from nugget because i bought a Carmello Anthony Jersey.

“carmello” me and my backup human-player about halfway thorough the build season, he started calling himself lebron, so he started calling me Carmello cause of our mad skills (and we are both rookies) so it kinda stuck with me.

“Heretic” name i use for all online games and most fourms

Mine is “M Hiddy.”

It got started Three years ago during a button meeting in my basment. All three Mikes that were on the team were there and Mike B (not me) was Making fun of P Diddy. so he called himself M Biddy (Some of you may Remember him  ). The nickname then speard to Mike M, or M Middy(Trashed20 on these boards) . and finally to me (Mike H) M Hiddy.

Sadly all the names stuck, and I’m stuck with it.

Mine is Jay
My real first name is Jason but a lot of people either don’t know that or call me Jay for short. I’ve gone by Jay for such a long time now it almost seems like my real name. That’s why my screen name is Jay H 237. This is also the screen name I have on our own teams’ forums (http://www.team237.com/forum/) before I signed up on CD. The H is short for my last name, Hartmann, and the 237 is my team number.
I also use the “Teams’ MacGyver” since I get called on to fix a lot of stuff with the team. Like the Badge-A-Mint button machine that broke at one of the town events we were attending, the robot when we were demonstrating at the local mall, the suspended ceiling tile that was busted when some members of the team were practicing shooting the balls into the goals this season in the schools’ cafe, and the list goes on…

For robotics my nicknames have included:
Let’s see for all my freshamn year I was Flinchy (I bet you can geuss where that comes from)
Last year It was Little Ski (Cause there already was an older thus Big Ski)
This year it is Ski (cause “little” is not eaxcatly the best term in describing me)

However out side of robotics I am knows as “Canadia” “Shiny” “Gumbo” and “Cory S.”

i just got it today… my name’s jerry and from my many injuries my new name is injerry …

One of my bestfriend on my team, she decided to give every guy a nick name so there was this one guy she would call beaver, there’s also otter and turtle. She compares all of them to gummi bears. I call everyone darling, sweet, hon or something of that sort. I don’t want to know what they call me.

Robotics: Meli, and second one will not be disclosed here :stuck_out_tongue:

Outside of robotics: Meli (quite common), gMo, G-Money, Melia, or just my last name screamed across the school hallway…

(sigh)
I’m also plagued with the name Mike. At one point, there were three Mikes on my team.

I’m not sure people realize just how common our name is. Although it makes sense. It is greatest name in existence…

Other nicknames include:
Mbichael Kboehl (Spelling error in programming class)
Crop-Circles (as mentioned above)
Bessie, the family cow (apparantly, 3 robotics metals together sound like a cow bell)
Spike/Spikey/Spike Mike/Spikes (see avatar)
Tony/Jack (still not sure where these came from)
Rusty (Drama)

I guess if you are the Team’s MacGyver, then I must be Anti-Macgyver.
Yeah, umm… I tend to break stuff robotics team related.

2001 - Monorail at Disney World the Monday after Nationals.
2002 - Drill motor trannys on the robot while I was backing up and going forward repeatedly trying to spin the tires. - It didn’t work.
2003 - The Drill motor tranny’s as soon as I held them in my hands. (They really sucked)
2004 - Nothing yet… (Knock on wood) - Although I was in the room when the tile fell down in Jay’s story above.

So, my new self appointed nickname is “Breaker”

Well, by the time nat’ls come around, people are bound to have names, at least this year. There’s Haroonie, Charmin, FireWhacka, Sparkles, BandAidWhacka, Magical Fishie #5289, and the Daisinator (Although that is somewhat disputed…it could be human or robot, we’re not sure anymore). I’m sure there are more, and by the end of nat’ls there will be more. Another and I are known as “PUNK”, not the kind of people, but it’s our name. The two of us are the only ones who use most of these nicknames though. Except Haroonie. Now everyone on my team is going to kill me most likely. Except the Daisinator, he’ll just laugh.

My team has quite a few nicknames floating around. Some of which I dont even think the people with the names know they have one. But here we go…

One of our autonomous mode guys is dollface because he looks like a precious moments doll and is just precious

Another one of our autonomous mode guys name is nasty…he likes it, i promise

We call our head advisor Boss, or Dad. It depends on our mood

We call our Library Media Specialist Mom, even though he’s cleary a man. He doesnt seem to mind though.

So if you see a bunch of kids (probably the tick chicks) asking “Mom” (a man with a beard, possibly blue beard) a question, you know its us.

Melissa

We all had nick-names starting with our last (rookie) year. We had one of our team members ironing the names onto our uniforms thursday night at competition, and he got my original nickname (Scholar) mixed up with another guy’s nickname. (Slacker) Slacker stuck as my nickname, however, because I was anythign but a slacker.

Well, I got the nickname pickle a while ago, and its just bled into all areas of my life. More people call me pickle now than they call me by my real name. I had a screen name once, and someone drew a picture of me as a pickle, and it stuck. Some of the new people I meet don’t even know my real name. I’ve talked to some people I’ve known for at least a year, and they don’t know my real name… rather amusing…One of my friends mom even calls me pickle…
Some other people call me Jreme (sounds like dream, except J sound more than a d at the beginning). I’m also commonly called “hey you”…

Our coach got the nickname charby(sounds like sharbee) because its easier to say than his last name. Umm… I can’t think of any other good nicknames.

elgin… quick question… how did you “break” the monorail? =P

The monorail was empty except for our group… Maybe 6 people.

I sat on the back of the seat. And when we went around a corner I grabbed up at what I thought was a grab bar… It wasn’t… It was in fact the emergency exit. We tried to take it off completetly but then realized that the panel had a wire attached to it. Thinking it may be a trip alarm, I had to hold it up until we got to the next station and have my group find an attendant and have him fix it, therefore holding up the line at the station 3 complete monorails long.

Oh, and my group did have plenty of time to take pictures of me…
See attached.
That’s me on the right… and a team member that was trying to help me put it back into place on the left.
