Robotics Stories

Yes, its time to tell stories by the (chief) campfire. Since a regional is more than just the competition, tell all of your crazy, funny, or even scary Robotics stories. This is a continuation of the thread on our own forum

So post away.

Who caps?
WE CAP!!!

At the Lone Star Regional someone went the pit administrator and asked for a Flux Capacitor. The announcer made the request over the PA three times before they realized it was a joke.

Best laugh I’ve had in a while!

we did this at nationals…it was funny…that and a left handed adjustable wrench

Yeah, we did that at Central FL.

When we were at the Midwest regional. The only way to hook up our PS2 was through taking off the cover to the Coax cable jack in the wall and hooking up a RGB converter up to it. Well one of my teamates in the other room did the same thing, and 5 minutes later unhooked everything, but forgot to hook back up the Coax cable in his room. Well because of how the circuts were connected, the only channel for about three hours that showed up in the entire hotel (renassance, so its quite huge) was us playing Karaoke Revolution. Which ment that the entire hotel could hear us singing! When my teamate figured out that he forgot to plug the cable back in all the channels came back except for channel 3, which was still us playing Karaoke revolution.

Lol i rememeber that, I asked my coach what one was and he went into this big speal thinking it was something for your engine (and yes I know what one is)!

Isn’t this really what FIRST Historians is for?

Maybe so, but this way I can post it my self.

Somebody went to the pit admin and requested a “new robot.” They announced that once, just for kicks.

Oh, yeah, then, there is just ripping the tether port off out OI, shorting a battery out and causing a small fire in our pit, and something else I don’t remember.

Would that have happened to have caused the mushroom cloud of smoke I saw a twice at Buckeye?

Here’s one that I did on my part.

At our first regional on oru practice match, I went to hook up the OI and I freaked, because our controls had a piece of polycarb in front of it which showed some of our sponsers. Well after a minute of freaking in my head and telling the operator and hp what the problem was, I looked to see that there was a piece cut out where I could hook up the interface. I think my face looked like this :ahh:

Just wait until someone asks for a metric adjustable wrench. Man if I could only get my hands on one of those
