RoboTigers Team 1796 Presents- Cosmo (2019)

@RoboTigers1796 Is there anything special to do (programming or mechanical) when running different motors in one gearbox or do you just build and program like a gearbox using the same motors?

Also… could you slave the spark max’s to the talons to do your control?

P.S. it was great competing with you guys at HVR and Detroit!!

Hi Alex,

Mechanical wise there is nothing that needs to be done to run a CIM, MiniCim, or NEO in the same gearbox together as they have comparable output speeds.

I’m not involved in the programming side but this is the message from our programming students:
We don’t do anything special programming wise when neos/mini’s ir cims/mini’s in one gearbox. We just make sure the motors are all going in the same direction.
We were able to slave a spark max to a srx for control and had our drive encoders connected to the srx.
You have to make sure you have the correct spark firmware that allows a spark to follow a talon as the compatibility for the ability to do that kept changing as REV & CTRE kept updating firmwares through the season. Hopefully they can work together this offseason to make sure it is 100% compatible for 2020.

Best of luck this offseason, continue to grow!

It was a pleasure to watch 1796 play in the Carson division. A great robot and a great team.
