FRC Team 1334 & 1374 are proud to announce a new Off-season, hosted at the opening weekend of the Canadian National Exhibition!
This offseason will be primarily targeted towards exposing FIRST to the public, on a large scale. Because of this, our event schedule will be a lot different than other offseasons. We’re going to be operating in 2-3 hour ‘blocks’ of time, allowing for teams to have more time to tune their robots, or explore the CNE!
For teams in the GTA, the GO Train is likely the best method to get to the event as the Exhibition Station stop is a very short walk from the venue (Hall F, Enercare Centre).
3 round tournament (Day 1, Day 2, Day 3 alliance winners)
2-3 Hour competition blocks (On 2 hours, off 1 hour)
30 000 Annual visitors to the Innovation Garage
Offseason & Outreach showcase
Weekend at the CNE
~70 Qualification Matches to be played!
Volunteers
This off season requires a bit more than a competition field.
If you have experience on your team with outreach in the areas of Jr FLL, FLL, Driver Training, or working with the general public to talk about FIRST, you can sign up to represent your team (or FIRST) at one of our event attractions! Please indicate your team number and area of expertise, volunteers for these positions are required to commit to a minimum of 1-2 hours a day if their team is also competing.
We’d also love for anyone to help us with traditional event roles!
We’re waiting on a few more teams that are up in the air to post a team list. Currently we have 3 teams confirmed, and 14 unconfirmed/waiting for a reply.
Too bad the majority of Americans don’t have a passport. A little known fact is that American citizens 19 years and under travelling with a youth group (like an FRC team) can cross the border with just a birth certificate or other proof of citizenship.
Currently we have the above list of 7 confirmed, waiting on replies from 4 more
We’ve sent messages to about 60 teams in Ontario, inviting them to come but due to the summer, not many teams are checking on their contact methods.
If you know of any teams that would be interested in coming, please let them know!
The event will still go on, we’ll just tweak the match format depending on the team count.
The goal of the event is to expose FIRST to as many of the public as possible. The less teams there, the more direct time you have with the public.
We’d like to get a few more teams at least, and ideally get the full 24. But we also recognize that it is the summer, and a lot of teams don’t have access to their robots.
We’re not going to compete unless we don’t have enough teams. Our students want to volunteer and help out with the event primarily. They are prepared to compete if needed though.
