Hi,
I thought we should share all the videos of robots fall from the pyramid in one place,
This is my own team in st. louis fall because of a driver mistake…http://youtu.be/nOzN68jXY-s?t=1m1s
edit: after the fall our shooter bacame more accurate and there was not any damage to the robot
Team 75, the RoboRaiders, fell twice from the top of the pyramid. The first time was in Qualification Match 59 of the Mt. Olvie MAR District Event (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Xgc3AYHH7_U), where they luckily landed right-side-up, and again in Qualification Match 4 at MAR Championships (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ZZ_jE71g1Gk), where they hit a bar on the way down and landed on their top. But, due to their hardy materials and construction, there was very little damage to their robot, and they were able to fix it in just a few minutes with some help from other teams.
the refs reaction to the second one is priceless
I unfortunately don’t have videos, but I have a few photos I can add to the mix!
This is TJ squared after falling from the pyramid at Battlecry:
This one is 2170 mid fall!!(&post) at the CT State Championship:
3236 had several bone crunching falls at the Boston Regional, but the amazing thing is that they would fall, loose all their ball weights (see all over the floor??) and then climb back up the pyramid!
3236 “losing their balls” at 1:20
They got it together and climbed again!
My favorite fall that I captured. 1831 at 2:00
Hyperion knocked off the pyramid at 0:50
Death penalty = 50 points
…Other than a 1/2" tool steel shaft so badly bent it had to be cut off, or a camera with the mounting stud driven through the front of the case, or a hundred other major parts mangled.
But yes, every team offered to help after that one, and they playing in their next match without any trouble. A testament to their skill.
