Rock Band vs Guitar Hero III

Rock Band or Guitar Hero III which one do you think is better??? :ahh:

I predict this will reach 100 posts faster than any other Chief Delphi thread, ever.

Guitar Hero III - I can’t stand the Rock Band guitar feel.

Perhaps you should attach a poll?

I choose both. Guitar Hero is better if you play by yourself but Rock Band is AWESOME when you play with friends. I love the drums and being able to play as a ā€œbandā€. I think the songs are good in both but I must go towards Guitar Hero for songs.

Rock Band is vastly superior. Guitar Hero and GH2 can give it a run for it’s money, but GH3’s revamped look, style, and feel without Harmonix costs it some major points. Flailing hammer-ons can only be fun for so long, and the last two sets are ridiculously hard. The singer and drummers are incredibly ugly and blockish, and the display is annoying and hard(er) to read.
I think Zero Punctuation covered my feelings on the game pretty well.
Rock Band delivers a much more complete experience. Even leaving out the added drums and karaoke features, the guitar experience is much greater. Ignoring the controllers for now (another rant for another time, although ultimately I prefer the Rock Band Stratocaster over the GH3 Les Paul), the songs have a much wider range in skill level and play-styles. The HuD is much better organized and easier to read, and the black backing provides much better contrast than the multi-colored fretboards in GH. You’re required much more accuracy to hit the notes, especially with hammer-ons, so even when some of the licks are a bit less flashy, they are still very skilled. The option to use the solo frets is nice, although personally I find them a bit small for my liking (although I have a feeling I’ll need to master them if I ever want to beat Green Grass or Ride the Lightning). Character customization (and generally nicer looking characters) is a huge plus, same with the much more detailed tour mode. The down-loadable content is updated every week, with at least three new songs (much better than the mere handful that GH3 has put out). Given the drums and singing on top of that, Rock Band is a much more complete, much more polished, much more well-rounded game that I enjoy vastly more than GH3. I still play GH3 from time-to-time as a change of pace, but there’s no way that it can take Rock Band’s place.

Apparently I kinda suck at playing instruments.
So I’m designated singer for Rockband get togethers.

Rockband get’s my vote because it has a microphone.

And because most of the songs are pretty kick-a$$.

GH3 simply because of song selections

I haven’t really played either. Ive played only a little of both. From what I have seen I would much rather spend the money on Rock Band.

Rock Band. Hands down the better game.

Guitar Hero III, most defintely. Its pretty sweet, and I think Rock Band is just too much, except for maybe the drums. My drummer friends all prefer Rock Band.

I disagree for the same reasons, I think Rock Band feels more like GH than GH does now (thanks Neversoft!).

Just re-read Lavery’s post, I think our music game tastes are pretty much equal, except I love the Wii Les Paul more than the 360’s Stratocaster, but that’s just me, though I loathe and want to burn the X-plorer in a pit…

It took me awhile to actually overcome the differences between both games, as I mean i’m used to those circles for how long, but once done I can’t go back. I <3 Harmonix

Guitar Hero is more difficult, and I enjoy that. But the song selection on Rock Band and all the DLC that’s coming out really gives the game its greatness.

I love my Guitar Hero III and would LOVE to have Rock Band, but it isn’t available for the wii yet.
Hopefully it will be and then I’ll definately get it.

Guitar Hero is much better than the guitar portion of Rock Band, however Rock Band is incredibly fun when you’re playing with three other people.

Rock Band gives each player a sense of importance. It’s really fun and it feels good to play well.

You should check out the leaderboards for Roxanne right here.

Dropdown Menus: Xbox 360, Band, Score by Song, M - R, Roxanne.

My band, M-Town L33T, currently has the 9th highest score on X-box live for Roxanne.

By the way, I was on guitar. I’m amazing at guitar. I have pictures of the screen after I beat Through the Fire and Flames on Expert.

While Guitar Hero III has a higher quantity of difficult guitar songs, I think Ride the Lightning and Green Grass and High Tides match anything GH can throw out aside of StudioForce. And of course the thrash pack released this week (sadly i havent been able to download it yet) has two songs listed at teir 8 guitar, and one listed as teir 9, so we have a chance at some more joining those ranks of ridiculous songs. The greater accuracy required in Rock Band and the harder hammer-ons (come on, I’ve missed notes in GH3 by a good half second and got credit) make it very difficult to 5 Star a lot of the deep songs.

I had to go with neither since I am really terrible at both, just can’t seem to get that coordination down…

GET A LIFE!!! J/K aubs:)

 lucky for you it’s coming out this year

D: too bad you don’t get The DLC D:

Rock Band is already up in the 140’s in songs. by atlanta, over 150+.

Harmonix is keeping up with there word about new DLC every week!

Harmonix Fanboy since Frequency

I lov’d Guitar hero 1 and 2 (though i lost touch at 2) when i saw them release rock the 80’s I knew something was up, then I realized GH3 was made by neversoft/activision (grr). and I played the game it totally changed (they took Clive Winston out!)

Rock Band FTW in my book.

Yeah! Thanks for the news.
Gotta love it - can’t wait for the release.
That will be an awesome addition to my bongos, tamborines, morroccos, and cowbell!!

I’d love to see it!

(BTW I’m a GH nub. DDR and Stepmania is more my style (I’ll challenge anyone, any time (tho my stepping days are kinda over since the deflation of both my lungs (multiple times  (not all on the same occasion though)))))
