Rookie Class of 2000, How are we doing?

This will be our (2000 rookie) 25th year in FIRST. Just thought I would see where we all are. Who is still around?

We (857) are the successor of 1999 rookie 221. Close enough?

Our team (453) was a 2000 rookie but we took a two season gap for 2010 and 2011 when the Head Coach/Teacher left the district. In 2011 we rejoined after getting a coach again. We were originally team G.E.A.R.S. pre 2012 after that we became Rockem Sockem Robotics. I’m the head coach since 2017 and we had two other head coaches from 2012-2016. Despite 3 coaches and 4 room changes since I was a student in 2013 we’ve been competing every year without fault. Even the virtual year.

620 started in 2001, and we’re still going strong! Close enough?

I believe @Cory was a rookie in 1990, as a junior in high school. Makes me wonder who the most tenured CDer is.

461 is still here after our most successful season yet!

Depending how you count tenure, I’d probably think @Libby_K. There’s one other account that I’m aware of, one that back quite a few years made one or maybe two posts acting like Dean, but there’s some doubt as to authenticity there.

Also, check your years. 1990 is before the first FRC competition in 1992…

Definitely not me! I shouldn’t count at all.

I started attending events as a toddler, and then volunteering as a youngster but I didn’t participate as a team member until 2005’s offseason/2006 with 1923. I wouldn’t count myself as ‘part of the community’ until that point.

451 is still here in NW Ohio!

We nearly closed up after being locked out from our shop for over 2 seasons during Covid, but we rebooted last year with 7 rookie students and about as many mentors. Up to about 12 students now (with 10 of those being rookies again). Still a bit of a precarious situation, but hopefully it continues to improve.

I just figured after season 25 that was time to retire any remaining mentors and shut down the shop. I already had April 25th, 2027 on the calendar for us!

Our rookie year (Team 246) was 1999 actually, if that’s close enough, but we’re still going strong! Rebranded recently from Overclocked to Lobstah Bots, and had a great season this year.

Our rookie year was 1999, but we never actually competed until 2000 so I’d consider this our true 25th year, and boy do we have quite the crew this year! Kickoff and competitions can’t come quick enough
