Hey Chief, Delphi! I’m Angelina, a rookie on team 2869, the Regal Eagles, and this will be my little corner to geek out about what I’m up to in robotics.
We kicked things off with the video (that was more tense than watching robots balance on moving platforms), did some serious planning (with just the right amount of chaos), and even some games. Here’s the scoop on what went down! While watching the video, I had some predictions and thoughts. So, we all know about FIRST Dive right now, but honestly, it seems
similar to Rack and Roll and the game the FRC had in 2000 (my mind’s blanking on the name + I’m too lazy to look it up). Also, just when I thought the climbs couldn’t get any sketchier, they did! At least, it’s not a moving platform where robots flip 270 degrees, right? Planning the robot was…. We were divided into groups to plan, revise, and then present, and there was a lot of chaos among the seniors. ( It’s like the Real Housewives of New Jersey, but with shiny metal things…. )Sometimes they are besties, other times they’re at each other’s throats. Today was 50/50, except for our programming and fundraising leads, they don’t get into drama. But hey, free movie! I’m shocked our engineering lead hasn’t been hit with an algae ball yet… then, we played a knockoff reefscape with those gyms’ scooter thingies (I want one for my house sooooo badly, also don’t their wheels classify as swerve?) I learned something cool about using motion generation from fellow alumni!
And that’s a wrap on day zero!
Catch ya later!
