Our programming mentor downloaded the cd to a desktop computer in our lab. We have configured our board with the jaguars, crio, power panel, etc. When we go to our desktop to dump our robot codes to our crio, everything seems good. Then we disconnect the ethernet from the desktop and connect it to the netbook and try to enable the robot. Errors come up; no communication to the robot. Does anyone have any advice?

You have to first build the code, then run as startup. Both can be accessed by right-clicking the build target.
No communication is not a code issue, it’s a network problem.
You can first leave your desktop directly connected to the robot just to see if Communications and Robot Code both go green. Assuming you installed the Driver Station application on it.
For a direct connection between the Classmate netbook and the cRIO double-check your team number entered in the driver station, turn off the network you aren’t using (wireless), check to see that the Local LAN settings are correct and it didn’t get confused by the wireless connection.
For the wireless network, the main element is really the setup of the D-Link. You’ll need to double-check everything there, from the AP switch on the back, to the settings in the documentation. The Classmate wireless connection will have to be enabled and set, while the Local LAN connection is disabled (and the IP changed to something harmless).
Have you guys changed the IP address on the classmate to be 10.36.94.5 (team number)?
You’ve obviously formatted the cRIO as you can run it on the desktop.
Have you Built AND Ran the code as startup?
The D-Link shouldn’t have anything to do with it because you aren’t going wireless. (yet)
Thats all that I can think of to solve the issue hope it helps.
We haven’t built and run the codes. But we weren’t certain if the problem wasn’t a direct result of cd program being on the desktop and the driver station being loaded on the netbook.
No that wouldn’t be a problem (given that you have the same IP settings on both the desktop, classmate, and cRIO) and if you would like you can install LabView on your classmate so that you can test and probe the code on the classmate while running the robot.
HELP, please. We are still stuck. We have our power distibution panel, mobile device controller, jaguars and battery connected. We have Labview installed on the development computer and the driver station on the classmate. Now how do we proceed with the programming?
so what your saying is that you have everything wired and no program?
If so i suggest you watch some of the FRCMastery videos and look through the Robotics examples on LabView. If you still need something as a last resort i can skype with you and provide any help i can be of.
Did you re-image and install the two things you need for the driver station? Did you install the labVIEW update that comes up when you first start it up (getting started panel) in the top right hand corner? Does it say “FRC Edition 2011” in the top right corner?
Post pictures of how you’re wiring the two laptops to the c-rio.
