Rookies

What rookies have u guys seen, think are gonna make a big impact at florida?

I’m in a rookie team, and we are doing very well! We were recieved the Top Rookie Seed at the SBLI Long Island Regional and at the New York City Regional. At Long Island we were in the quater-finals and at New York City we made it to the semi-finals. Our robot is very strong, so you better watch out for the Mechanical Bulls at Florida.

we are VERY powerful but do not have nearly enough speed, maybe 5 feet a second, so we are lookin to up that for florida, but we also won top rookie seed finishing in 14 but we were passed for the finals, mainly because we played 5 times with rookie temas and the other couple with teams that didnt even make the playoffs, and we never really got a chnace to show other teams what we really had, we won 3 matchs by ourselves, one including a 120 point victory ,but hey, what can u do? see u in nationals maybe we will be paired together in a match

yes, as rob said above, we have an amazingly fast, yet powerful, robot. 11 fps on wheels, 4 fps on treads. i believe we pushed two goals and a robot on the treads during one match, but i’m not exactly sure.

we also were able to run circles around some bots (well, not literally). all the ball grabbers we went up against (yes, there actually were some at NYC :D), i don’t thnik any of them got more than a few balls from the field. when we were paired with a ball grabber, the results were phenomenal. ask 694, we kicked %%% in the quarter finals.

in florida, i think that team 810 is going to be looking for a ball grabber, because it seems that we do the best with them.

Well … I don’t know about the nationals, but rookies have been doing really well at the regionals so far. If they keep it up, this might be the year of the rookies (second only to the first year of the FIRST competition). Supporters?

I’d be inclined to agree with you. Based on what I saw in Cleveland, there were some rookie teams that really had it together, namely 779 and 859. 859 even made it to #3 seed and were regional champions along with my team and Las Guerillas. I think that overall, the rookies of this year put out a good showing, and will be valued members of the FIRST program in years to come.

Go Rookies! :stuck_out_tongue:

Down in KSC, team 945 was the #1 seed for competition… by far. They blew everyone there, regardless of experinece, out of the water in the qualifying rounds. Not bad in the elim rounds, either, they made it to the finals before losing a thriller in 3 games to Metal-in-Motion’s alliance.

if any rookie teams would like to get together with this team 816 tell me, we’ll plan sumptin ya know?
