I saw in the What do you do other than FIRST thread that at least one other forum member is also a rugger (Wetzel). So I decided to start a thread and see who else was involved with the sport either by playing or just as a fan.
I have been playing for a little more than a year, I play Prop, usually tight head but can play anywhere in the tight 5 if needed.
As far as being a fan I support the American side, of course they tend to fair poorly. I am also an Ireland Supporter.
Feel free to post about the game or your experience with it.
I played for three or four years in high school but I havent done too much in university. I played a summer of junior club level and it was pretty exciting to travel around but it does take its toll eventually. I played lock/wing forward and sometimes the different wings in the backs, but I didnt like it too much.
Canada has a pretty developed local rugby following, and it looks like it conitnues to grow in popularity. But really, France right now, can’t compare. I am in Aix en Provence now and the All Blacks came to do some prep work before the World Cup last year… haha, too bad I missed it.
My dad started the local club here back in the early 70’s, so I’ve grown up with the game.
I’ve played a few games at wing and fullback. And I think last year or the year before, we finally got some High school rugby, but I haven’t joined the team. Maybe this spring…
