rule G20 and G48

G20 is the de-scoreing rule, and G48 is the how pieces can enter the field

i am wondering, if a ringer is hanging, can a human player purposefully knock off a hanging ringer by throwing his own ringer into it without incurring the 10 point penalty?

That is probably a question for the Q&A, as I can’t seem to find any rules that clarify that matter any further. <G20> only prohibits Robots from descoring, but the spirit seems to be that it shouldn’t be done regardless. But Human Players descoring was a large factor in Toroid Terror in 1997 (especially descoring from the top of the tower). The ability to knock off tubes from the pipes was rather hard, and I think it may be next to impossible this year.

That’s actually a very good question. This should probably be asked on the Q&A. Personally, I would think that in the spirit of the game, a penalty would not be assigned, just because if it does happen, it will likely be accidental, though I would think that they would still count the unscored tube as if it was still there.

That’s just my opinion though, you’ll have to comb the rules or the Q&A for an official answer though.

Edit: Dang it Lil’ Lavery beat me to it!

Based on the size of the Spider foot with the Stinger and the inner diameter of the tube is it even possible to knock a scored tube off of the rack? Maybe

Is it likely? No

not a scored ringer, i’m asking if its allowed to knock off a hanging, non scored ringer/spoiler. since it is hanging, it would be between the stinger and the spider foot, so it would be precariously hanging there if i remember the dimensions correctly

the rules say that the human player can only put tubes on the feild by the loader. So the answer is no

rule G48, you may attempt to throw a ringer to a robot or onto the rack. if thrown, they must be thrown over the alliance wall.

Reread rules please

g48

Just for reference:

<G48> Entering GAME PIECES onto the field - Only the HUMAN PLAYERS may enter a RINGER
or SPOILER onto the field, either by attempting to throw it to a ROBOT or onto the RACK,
passing it through the CHUTE to a ROBOT, or passing it through the CHUTE for pickup by a
ROBOT. If GAME PIECES are thrown, they must be thrown over the top of the Alliance
Station Wall, and may not be thrown around the side of the Alliance Station Wall. Violations
of this rule will result in a 10-point penalty per GAME PIECE entered onto the field.

So the human player can throw the game peices on to the spider legs for points, right? :ahh:

you can, but i am wondering if you can remove a opposing hanger, since with a hanger, that leg is effectively either a opposite score, or a no score, and if you can remove that hanger with a ring, you can then put a ringer on and score it for yourself

I think a human player that throws a ringer that knocks off the opposing alliances ringer is allowed. The only placed this seems to be discused is in Rule <G20>, but it only talkes about the Robot displacing a ringer, not a hp(This is in Section 7, btw).

If you go back and watch the example match they ran at the Kick-Off, one point that they paused and pointed out was a ringer that was hanging on the stinger of a spider leg but not totally on the spider leg. They pointed out that the ringer is in fact NOT scored. Taking that into mind and rules G20 & G48, that ringer that is hanging can be removed from the leg since it is NOT SCORED. That is how I have perceived the ruling for that situation. Once again as stated above, the proper and correct way of getting the answer to the question will be best found on the Q&A Forum, but I am pretty sure that how I have explained the ruling about will be how FIRST will explain it.

Opps sorry guys thanks for the correction. I do not know how i missed that.
