Rule G23-1A question

In rule G23 it says:

a ROBOT may not have its horizontal dimensions exceed a 54 in. diameter vertical cylinder relative to the ROBOT

Some of our teammates are disagreeing, when it says “relative to the robot” does that mean if our bot goes up sideways our cylinder is now horizontal?

This was clarified by Q&A. If your robot fits in a 54" diameter right cylinder, it’s good, assuming that it doesn’t violate G23-1-B.

G23 applies while your robot is not touching the pyramid. Then your robot has to fit inside a 54 in cylinder relative to the floor.

G23-1A applies when your robot is touching the pyramid. The latest interpretation from the GDC is that your robot is legal when touching the pyramid if it always fits inside a 54" diameter by 84" tall cylinder in ANY orientation. That is, if you can think of a way to turn a 54" x 84" cylinder so that your robot fits inside it, then you’re legal.

Thanks a lot for clearing that up. Saved our design big time.
