Rule G23

Rule G23 seems to prevent a typical robot from using the long (~10’) ramp, since when you are half way up, your bumper will most definitely be out of the bumper zone but the robot will not be entirely in the HAB zone.

10-foot long ramp? Wouldn’t that be more than 30 inches outside your frame perimeter? Or am I missing something?

if you make your bot 59" x 1", and stick 30" in either direction, you could reach just under 10 feet.

Ah, makes sense. Thank you for the clarification.

EDIT: Nevermind, we were both wrong @langsley757. See his post below.

well, I didn’t know how else to describe which ramp I was talking about. There is one long ramp and two short ramps going up to the lowest HAB zone. The long one has a front edge about 10’ long that is coincident with the HAB LINE.

Ah, you mean the one that is ~1 ft long and leads the the lowest level of the hab.

R25 applies as if you were on a flat floor, so being tilted to use the ramp will not cause you to be in violation.

Additionally, one could go around the side if there’s any concern.

you are correct. please disregard my original post

But here is the blue box on R25:

Example 1: A ROBOT that is at an angle while navigating the FIELD has its BUMPERS outside the BUMPER ZONE. If this ROBOT were virtually transposed onto a flat floor, and its BUMPERS are in the BUMPER ZONE, it meets the requirements of R25.
