Rule updates..

The rules have been updated. I forgot that I had these written up last week, and didn’t make them public. I first want to say that the additions made are not directed towards specific users, but rather additions to help new members understand the ‘unwritten rules’ we’ve been using in the image galleries. (What a good who-am-i picture is, how many pictures to upload, etc, etc) So, go check the rules out, the changes made are near the bottom. There are 3-4 new paragraphs.

As always… questions, comments, and suggestions are always welcome.

Dumb question I know but were are the rules?

Knew it was dumb. I found it on the bottom of the page. Who ever looks there?

Ahh, sorry. They’re shown when you initially sign up, and then you can get to them on any page at the very bottom right side.

Quote from rules “The AKA field should contain your name, if you want. If your username is your name, then you can put your online screenname / nickname. The AKA field shouldn’t contain a silly phrase or sentence.”

Who follows this rule? I see that you don’t Brandon. :ahh:

Every forum user’s IP address is logged whenever they post in the ChiefDelphi Forums. This information is used if it becomes necessary to ban a user. The IP address can only be seen by administrators and moderators.

The AKA field should contain your name, if you want. If your username is your name, then you can put your online screenname / nickname. The AKA field shouldn’t contain a silly phrase or sentence. That is what your signature is for. There is plenty of room there. Leave the AKA field blank if you are not going to put your name or a nickname in it. The moderators will be clearing out the AKA field for you if there is a violation of the above two rules. If the abuse continues, the field will be disabled for your account.

Any attempt to bypass the automatic censorship of curse words and/or vulgarity will not be tolerated and will be edited or deleted by a moderator. This also includes the use of vulgarities in abbreviations or acronyms. After multiple offenses, disciplinary action may be taken in the form of a temporary/permanent ban from the site.

The owners of the ChiefDelphi Forums have the right to remove, edit, move or close any thread for any reason.

Upload images to the image gallery only once. Images must be approved by one of the many approvers, and this process may take up to 24-48 hours, depending on when you uploaded the image, and how often the approvers visit the site…

Place all images into the proper image gallery. If the gallery you need doesn’t exist, send a private message to Brandon Martus to get one created BEFORE you upload your images.

The Who-Am-I gallery is provided to give people an idea of what you look like. Images uploaded to this gallery should be photographs of you, preferably showing your face. Drawings, team logos, pictures of robots, or anything else that isn’t an image identifying you will be erased by an image moderator.

The image galleries are provided to showcase FIRST and FIRST-related events. While we would like to host every picture imagineable, due to space and bandwidth restrictions, we ask that you refrain from uploading a large amount of similar images or those where the general public may not understand or care to view. If you have an abnormal amount of pictures from an event, please try to pick a few of the overall best pictures and upload those.

ChiefDelphi also the right to remove your membership and access to the site at any time, with or without warning, should you violate these guidelines.

ChiefDelphi reserves the right to modify these rules as needed, without notice (although it is usually given). Check these rules often for updates and changes.

Shhh… The “AKA police” may delete Brandon’s account if they catch on… :stuck_out_tongue:

And actually, I think that’s his name from the “type with your (elbow or nose)” thread anyways.

I wonder if the “Who-am-I” picture rule update is becuase of mine…

However, I plead a lack of abuse of other rules and get off lightly, meaning you forget it.

The AKA rule has been updated.

“…or feel free to have some fun & give youself a silly AKA title…”

Oops… it’s spelled wrong…

I know, I’m annoying like that… It’s a curse…
Feel free to delete this post if you want to when (or if) you change it…

If there was a spell check that wouldn’t have happened.

Dropping subtle hints, are we?

No need for subtle hints anymore… It’s here now. w00t!

That post right there was my final inspiration.

I read it last night and went “It’s getting done. Now.

Thank you Steve.

You ARE the BEST !!!

rules, i really hate the rules, i think that there are too many and i also think that there should only be a couple of them and not a bajillion pages of em’.

Well since this is an open forum and it is a privilege to post here, if you don’t agree with the rules then just don’t post here.

If you have concerns about a particular rule, send me a Private Message about it, and I will elaborate as to why we have that rule.

If you are talking about the FIRST rules, you’ll have to complain to FIRST about that; this thread is for the ChiefDelphi Forum rules.
