I just compared my encrypted copy of the manual (downloaded ~12 hours before kickoff) and the one from FIRST’s website and see the same rule for both.

But what does the difference in terminology mean? Does it mean a robot cannot go across the field and collect power-cells from the loading station?

That is correct. During AUTO you cannot cross the FIELD and go to your LOADING ZONE. You start touching your ALLIANCE INITIATION LINE, which is at the edge of your OPPONENT’s SECTOR (across the FEILD from your DRIVERS STATION). Also during AUTO your HUMAN PLAYER cannot feed CELLS through the LOADING STATION anyways. Basically you cannot go into your own SECTOR during AUTO.

You can drive around the middle of the FIELD and acquire CELLS from there and score them.
