yes, in the midst of the crazy building period i’m going to bring up this subject

so who’s up for having Rumble at the Rock V?

Yah, the wonderful team #23 is taking a year off from building a 'bot… yeah, Memorial Hall is being done over (or torn down, not totally sure)… but little little details like that never stopped any of us before…

why should they now?

Figure say it takes 25K-35K to run something like this, plus manpower… ok, all the times together we can get the volunteers… that i highly doubt would be a prob… and maybe no team solo wants to take on the financial burden as team #23 did… but yeah, if all the teams cause pay a bit more for registration, and/or the teams that have the $$ can co-sponsor this competition…

and maybe theirs somewhere in plymouth that could host us again, because we know what a great place that is and it just wouldn’t be the same elsewhere (although i could deal if it meant there would be a Rumble…:-)… and maybe having it in plymouth would remind the great people just what they’re missing out on (not that i think they don’t know already…)…

what do you say? who’s in for keeping one of the best FIRST traditions alive… or has someone already beat me to the idea?

Team 131,CHAOS would try to be there…It is a great event (except camping out in the rain was not plesant.)
Charging teams $100 each seems to be fair to all. When the Manchester, NH teams put on River Rage in the fall, it really takes away one big burden by charging an entry fee. Otherwise, sponsoring teams have to go after their same sponsors for more money.

Team 177 would certainly love to participate but, unless we get sponsors, the cost would be more like $1000 per team (40K divided by 40 teams). - Mike

If I had my way, Team 69 would definately come! We love going to Rumble, and along with the loss of Plymouth North this year, is a huge blow to the competition. If there is a Rumble somewhere, we’d try to come!

Rumble @ the Rock is a great comp. it has always been my favorite FIRST competition as is the case for many people I think. It’s possible there may still be people from the Plymouth Noth Team who might want to help with the organization even tho they no longer have a team. In fact it might be easier to focus on Rumble without having to also worry about building a machine. I would be willing to offer any help I can if people want to get Rumble off the Ground. I’m living in RI right now and in Manchester, NH during the summer and I’ve worked on River Rage the past few years. If the FIRST community @ large wants this bad enough I think it could happen.

I’d be more than willing to donate my time to helping out Rumble, or any other ‘off-season’ competiton. Getting to play in a more informal setting is one of the highlights of participating, as you can make friends and spend time with other teams.
