So to run CA - download and unzip the CA folder. Place this somewhere you will remember it, like your desktop, or an FMS folder.
Open the CA folder, right click on the executable and update it’s permissions to run as admin always. This avoids the windows UI popping up asking you if you want to run it or do something else which I’ve had happen before.
What you do to run CA from here differs depending on what you want to do.
If you just want to play around in general, no access point for robots to connect too or anything like that, then just open the CA folder, and double click the executable to start CA. A terminal window should open and a few messages displayed, probably one saying you need to change your IP address to 10.0.100.5. you can ignore this if you are just testing and updating your CA database file.
Open a browser and navigate to your machines IP address:8080 or localhost:8080. This is the CA web interface, play around with the setup, add teams, etc …
if you want to connect robots, you will need to change your machines static IP on the Ethernet adapter to 10.0.100.5. Then if you convert a VH-109 to a VH-113 and set up a managed network switch you can run a full field of robots with an FMS
Thank you so much!!! I will try this when I get back to the lab tomorrow. Is there a way for CA to work with the older radios? Thank you for all of your help.
I am hoping to use the old radios to start with and then move to the new ones at a later date. the reason I ask is because I started with CA and when I saw that there was no manual scoring I deleted CA and moved to the lite version. The reason I want to use lite is that I just want manual scoring and be able to not have to shell out for all of the expensive equipment so I can test everything out and see how it goes to hopefully have something that we can run test matches with when we have fellow teams over and we are all just testing. I like JMS another alternative to FMS because an iPad could be connected and used as a scoring tablet if need be. Thank you for everyone’s help and input. I know I am very picky.
This official build was not available for pre-season activities, no cresendo graphics or scoring logic - which is why @cpapplefamily created this fork for pre-season scrimmage’s is my understanding.
If you still want to run the @cpapplefamily version it looks like you will have to install GO and build it yourself from source. Check out these general instructions:
Be sure to switch to the correct branch. I typically don’t merge my branches to the main. I keep my main equal to the Cheesy origin. This way each year when Pat updates the origin i can sync my fork and add the feature I need or want. Things like 3-8 alliance double eliminations and other creature conferences.
