As we all continue to prepare for the upcoming competitions, Team SigmaC@T 108's subdivision S.O.A.P. (SigmaC@T Opponent Analysis Program) has decided to make it their mission to discover what more we could do to make our service better. For those of you who haven't heard of us, we provide Soap Robot Profiles (descriptions of team robots) along with digitized video of every competition we are able to record. Past information can be located at www.soap108.com.
Any suggestions on how to better serve the community are welcome, and if you aren't familiar, feel free to take a look at the site to see what updates or features you would like.
EX: A team may like a feature to be added so that when they look up a team they can find that team’s history.
I’d like to see a team accessible Kiosk at the competitions where people can walk up to and access up the second statistics and videos, as well as print scouting reports and burn CDs of movie files for later review.
As far as the match videos are concerned, could you somehow put the team numbers in the match, so I know what teams are in each match? I know I go to SOAP a lot looking for a specific team, but I have no idea what matches they are in.
Similar to what he said, it’d be nice to have match numbers and competing teams # for all the vidoes. I am assuming it will be tedious, but see what you can do.
I dont know if its just me, but one thing that would be nice is the links to work in firefox. I personally use Firefox 99% of the time and it appears that your website doesn’t support firfox.
Nope, it isn’t just you. I’m using Mozilla, and when I click on the Movies link, it takes me to: http://www.soap108.com/2004/movies/Home*2004*Movies
…which has a 404 error. If I click the link from IE (eww…), then it works okay. Making your page Mozilla-compatible would be great, since a largely tech-savvy community like this has a large user-base of alternative browsers.
Just to make sure you know we are checking this thread. The FireFox problem is something that was brought to our attention this year. I assure you that fixing that will be at the top of our list. Keep the thoughts coming!
I have another idea or question, would there be a way or could there be a way to save an entire regional down loadable as one file, such as a zip file for those of us that would like to download the whole thing? And I was also wondering if you guys would like a mirror location? I have quite a lot of bandwidth and by mid February more than enough hard drive space. I am running on sDSL and a dual 2g processor so I wont be over powered.
How about user-supplied pre-formatted scouting reports that a team could print out. Some teams have formats that they are used to and some people just can’t change.
