Safety Rule 10

This rule states that the totes are the only projectile that may be launched by robots. How many robots do you think will actually use this to their advantage?

I think that a fast bin launcher will be extremely effective. Im sure many people will build them.

And the good thing about them is that if it’s accurate, you can use launchers to knock down stacks that are otherwise unreachable if it’s guarded.

And the funny thing about them is that if its not accurate then who knows where thse bins are going…stands…judges table…Woodie…

That’s exactly what I was thinking- those boxes sure could do some serious damage… if one mistakenly launched a box in the crowd or at the drivers’ station plexiglass, the refs might outlaw that robot’s mechanism

i, for one, would like to see a flying bin. i think it would be quite effective and it is indeed legal. but projectile bins were overruled on my team. i was saddened by that. so i’m ready to see other teams accomplish this…

Though I’m looking forward to seeing flying boxes, I doubt many teams will make box launchers because most of them probably considered the fact that they will get dq’ed from the game if they misfire into the stands or something.

it could be a major hazard for those teams that sit by the field area while their team is playing…

especially since you’re forced to sit down and that sort of would hinder your movement if one happened to fly your way.

i’m sure as much as people say it would be a hazard, teams will build them regardless of the risk…of course, that’s half the fun. :stuck_out_tongue:

…you might want to take a look at [rule=k10]Rule K10[/rule]

i’ve had some experience with that latex tubing, and if supported right, those boxes can really do some damage, whether it be to a stack, another robot, or a by stander. I personally don’t believe many people will use these but who knows

Those boxes are so flimsy, they would explode on contact.

it will be like the front row of a Gallagher show. just bins instead of watermelons.

those boxes can take a beating. It took quite a hard kick to barely crack a side. They will defiantly be able to take a landing

ours have been holding up farely well…but i cant wait to see what happens when 260 lbs of robot puts on the squeeze at high speed.

i think those plastic rivits might shoot out like bullets, and if so COOL!

the scouting team wont be thrilled when we issue them armor

I agree. These boxes could shatter and send shrapnel (if such a word could be used to describe debris launched from a breaking bin) scattering throughout the playing field and perhaps even the crowd.

Does anyone think that maybe this could be considered intentional destruction of the playing field?

all the people watching will have to wear safety glasses cause you never know when shrapnel is gunna come flying at you.

I personally highly doubt though that the bokes will explode or anything like that, and to my knowledge even if a bin gets broken it is not considered destruction of field. I may be wrong, but even so i don’t see it to be dangerous.
