Saturday Seminars at Novi Kickoff

I am among the folks who are pressing Jennifer Harvey, who is organizing the Novi Regional Kickoff, to have seminars after the Dean & Woodie Show is over.

Part of our dilemna is that we don’t know if anyone will stick around if we have them!

Will folks look at the following agenda of seminars & round table discussions (which I more or less made up out of my head last night so think of it more as a proposal than a fixed agenda).

Anyway, my question is would anyone actually stick around for this agenda?

12:00 - 1:30
Chief Delphi Rookie Camp
Advanced Programming
Animation for Beginners
Motor Selection*
Round Table Discussion:
Chairman’s Award

1:45 - 3:15
Innovation First Hardware & Default Code*
Animation Intermediate
Travel
Wiring Do’s & Don’ts
Round Table Discussion:
1st half: Typical Regional & Championship Schedule
2nd half: Finding a Corporate Sponsor & Securing Funds

3:30 - 5:00
Intermediate Programming*
Power Train 101
Reverse Engineering the Innovation First Control System – An Unauthorized Look Under the Hood
Team Organization Ideas
Round Table Discussion:
Robot Building Best Practices

I have starred the ones that I would volunteer to teach. We have ideas for folks to teach many of the others. Even so, we have not actually asked anyone to teach them so if you are interested in teaching these or if you have ideas for other seminars (and maybe you’d be interested in teaching them?), then e-mail me, we’ll talk ([email protected]).

Thanks for the input.

I am assuming that since there has not been a response to this message that there is not any interest in attending seminars after the kickoff broadcast is over from FIRST.

Now that the Chief Delphi Invitational is over, I have a minute to actually think about the kickoff. I was going to start to line up speakers and to start planning what I was going to talk about at the seminars I was interested in teaching.

But… …hearing no interest, perhaps we should just selve the idea.

Thoughts?

Joe,

I am speaking for team 217 when I say that we would definitely be interested. Also, if you would like any help on any seminars regarding mechanical and analysis of robot motion (basically, anything non programming that has to do with a robot) I would be more than willing to help. I could go into detail about spring balancers, inertia matching, etc. Let me know.

Joe,
Team 397 has some members interested in attending the seminars at the Novi kick-off. The problem is the limitation of 5 members from each team attending the event. I’ve sent a message to Jennifer Harvey to open this up, but have not heard otherwise.
BTW - Some of our team members were wondering why there were not any seminars at CDI during lunch like last year. Our team really enjoyed those seminars.

Thanks

Joe,

I’m sure Team 830 would be interested in attending those workshops, and we will be going to the Novi kickoff. Good luck organizing it!

I am with team 94 and we will be there and we would definitely stay for the workshops.
