First off, i wanna thank Team 870(TEAM RICE) and Team 88(TYE DYE TEAM!)… You guys were amazing partners.
Second, my thanks go out to ANDY from TEAM 311, if it wasnt for you our robot would just sit there…lol. You’re an amazing programmer, and ur robot is freakin awesome!
Third, goes to my mentor Brian Buonomo, winner of the SBPLI Regional Woodie Flowers Award, without you, none of this would have been possible for me and our team.
And Lastly, my thanks goes out to my team, and the judges at the competition, without all of them, we wouldnt have won Chairmans! w00t!
I already mentioned this in the thanks/congrats thread but thank you to Team 1114. They toppled our bot but came right over and helped us out. They lent us degreaser and helping us get our winch working in time for our next match.
Also thank you to team 467 for picking us even though we sucked for most of the competition. Thanks to both 467 and 358 for bringing us along to the semifinals. We just wish we could have been more useful…our cable-winch failure really did us in. Congratulations on your success, you guys were great to work with!
Edit: I would also like to thank our front piston. It was the single element on our robot that didn’t break at some point during the competition, despite being used in every match. Originally intended to climb the step, it also worked great for latching on to and pulling the mobile goal. Unlike our rear piston, which bent seven times, the front piston’s flexible mounting allowed it to stay operational while every other mechanism on our robot failed. For that reason, our MVP (most valuable part) award for our 2004 robot goes to the front piston.
I’d also like to join AsimC in thanking our alliance partners Team 870 and Team 88. We lost in the semi-finals, but at least we lost to the best teams
Team 311 was an amazing ally this year. Andy seemed to be in our pit more than in the 311 team pit. Considering that we usually are opposing Team 311 in most of our matches, it was an amazing example of “gracious professionalism”, Andy you are a true embodyment of FIRST.
Then last I’d like to thank my team. In three short years we have accomplished so much. They try to drop the success on me, but all I do is try to keep up with them
The students are the true motivating force, without them we would not be where we are today.
The Chairman’s Award would not have been possible without AsimC. Although there were quite a few students who contributed to the preparation and the presentation of this years Chairman’s Award, AsimC was the true inspiration behind the team. He is an excellent team leader, and is the sole reason for Team 871 winning the SBPLI Chairman’s Award.
Winning the Woodie Flowers Award is an amazing honor. It was a complete surprise, and I am very pround of each and every one of my students and team members.
Thank you 870 and 871… We were shocked that you picked us… I’m so glad we got a hanging device on our robot friday night… We did very well with it… We could have won if one if it wasn’t for flipping but that is just how the game goes… We had so much fun cheering and winning (hehehe)… It was weird because someone from 1114 came up to us at the end of the competition and said “If we knew you could hang like that then we would have picked you”… But I had so much fun being with you guys… Especially with a WOODIE FLOWERS AWARD WINNER AND CHAIRMAN’S AWARD WINNERS!!! Great job!!! It would be nice working with you in nationals and I hope we do because you guys got sick robots!!!
Thanks for the compliments. I really enjoyed helping you guys with your software. You guys did a great job getting into the top 8 and again, I’ve gotta congratulate you on the Chairmans Award
This is directly from andys mouth. If you want to talk to him he can be imed at PsycoBassMan283
Simmer down Asim! So many thanks. Hehe, and all warranted of course. Great job guys, you deserve everything you got. I’m only sorry I wasn’t still on the team to enjoy it with you all.
See ya’s in Atlanta, and remember always, WPI and the magic sandwich! :yikes:
“This one time, at WPI we… (insert ‘band camp’ joke here).”
Well Werner, we would not be the team we are today with out you in our Rookie year. You set a president for all student team leaders to follow. That Chairman’s award is also partially your award. Even if you are a “Team 190 Mentor” now
Hey,
Did anyone get a picture of when 329,467, and two other bots were all hanging off the bar. it happened on friday. I was wondering if there were any pictures around of that. Thanks
I heard about the quad-hang. A rookie member of our team came over and told me but I missed it vv;.
I know between Asim and Mr.B we’ve already thanked teams 870, 88, 311, Werner, and members of our own team, but…
I want to make sure that we thanked the judges, any and all sponsors (even those who aren’t ours), team 1468 (for being the best rookie team we could ever mentor), and all the teams really because it wouldn’t have been as much fun if all of us didn’t compete!
