I was wondering what teams were using Surface tablets for Scouting, and what app they use to do so.
Our team has used Microsoft Surface tablets the last year and a half. We have custom developed an app each year tailored to the game. I cant speak much on the whole coding side though as a parent donates his time to help us develop the app. If you need help PM me with some details and I can get you to the right people.
I was going to say talk to 2512, but they beat me here…
Actually, you need to talk to me.
2512 will be beta testing the app today. I’ll get it uploaded to the store after any final changes are made.
Well, and fixed some “cosmetic” issues like building an actual app tile rather than the default gray box with an X through it. Though come to think of it, a gray tote might make a good app icon.
Current data recorded:
“Event ID,Recorder ID,Team,Match,Starting X position,Starting Y position,Minor Fouls,Technical Fouls,Auton Mobility,Auton Robot Set Member,Auton Tote Count,Auton Tote Set,Auton Tote Stack,Auton Bin Count,Auton Center Bin Count,TeleOp Gray Tote Count,TeleOp Green Bin Count,TeleOp Noodle Count,TeleOp Bin Stack Count,TeleOp Coopertition Tote Count,TeleOp Coopertition Stack,TeleOp Center Bin Count”;
If it’s not a count it’s probably a true/false flag.
Those may change if it’s decided that some are useless or others are needed.
Data goes out as a CSV which can be imported into Tableau. I’m experimenting with uploading data to a web server as well which could give the potential for a large shared database.
Last year’s app: Microsoft Apps
The framework is mostly the same.
Depending on which Surface tablet you are using, you may be able to install BlueStacks or DuOS-M on it and then run any available Android app. If you choose this option, try GMS at http://gms.pejaver.com/ (Click on Team Scouting) Happy scoring…
