Scouting in the stands using Tethering

Hi
Last year our team used google forms so that someone can export the results and compile them together in an excel spreadsheet and use conditional formatting, etc etc etc…

One problem was kids would get lazy and use the excuse, “I don’t have data”

Is it legal to tether a phone’s high-speed mobile hotspot plan, to a windows computer, and then use ICS and a network switch to tether to the school-issued Chromebooks via a ethernet to USB adapter? Because there is no wi-fi broadcasting, is it legal?

On another note, would a high-speed mobile hotspot be enough to do internet browsing for 7 devices?

Thanks!

Im not nearly knowledgeable in this kinda stuff but my two cents is that you should reinforce the importance of scouting rather than “force” them to do it. I know this doesn’t answer your question but I really think reinforcing scouting should be tried first rather than this method.

Yes and yes.

Physically tethering is totally cool.(beware of tripping over the cables.)

If you are just loading static webpage it should be plenty fast for all your scouting devices.

definitely… Last year was the first year in a while where we were a captain, and at the post-competition meeting, we made it abundantly clear the importance of scouting

ok, just wanted another brain on this… not trying to upset FTA’s
