(We promoted it at Palmetto, so I guess we should post it on CD…)
It’s back for a third year!
Teams 1293 (D5 Robotics) and 2815 (Los Pollos Locos) Present:
SCRIW III
(South Carolina Robotics Invitational and Workshops)
Over the past two seasons, SCRIW has grown into a great kick-start for the FIRST season in the Carolinas. With an all-North-Carolina alliance winning last year, I know the South Carolinians are eager for redemption!
When: October 12, 2013 (That is the first weekend of the State Fair, but the Gamecocks are on the road.) Where: Irmo High School, 6671 St. Andrews Road in Columbia. (Same as SCRIW II) What: We’ll be playing Ultimate Ascent, subject to tweaking, as well as a great lineup of workshops. And perhaps a little extra fun, too… Who: YOU! Bring your freshmen, bring your parents, bring everyone! We’re setting capacity at 30 teams, subject to review as demand dictates. How much: We’ve worked hard to keep this as affordable as possible for teams:
$300
for teams registered and paid by July 1 - $350
for teams who register and/or pay after July 1 - Pre-rookies are free*
with your team’s paid registration, as space allows - $200
for B-teams*; registration for them opens August 1.
*Pre-rookies are made of students that will compete as a rookie team in the 2014 season; B-teams are extensions of an existing team that competes with a second robot.
The SCRIW.org has been updated for 2013. If you want to learn more, let me know or catch 2815 at South Florida!

M’Aiken Magic is waiting to make sure the same event that conflicted this past season won’t conflict again. They are really looking forward to attending…with a surprise…
A full court shooter that works the way one is supposed too.
Did y’all just feel that breeze coming from the Upstate? Oh wait, that was 4451 practicing their Mutombo finger-wag. (Someone, post a picture of the blocker they added for Championship.)
I saw that when I went by their pit…I swear if they keep building robots at that caliber in the seasons to come…South Carolina has a new powerhouse in their hands for sure.
But…Billfred don’t you remember what I showed you at Palmetto that they can do on the front end of the robot with expanding the frame perimeter forward, but I mean we already cycled fairly well. We’re just adding the “King Tec” trump card.
I recall the drop-down foot, which certainly gives the frisbees more run with which to rise…but having worked Archimedes, I’m afraid I missed the King Tec trump card (and couldn’t find an obvious answer on YouTube or on the Galileo thread).
It’s the best birthday present an off-season organizer can ask for!

Just sent out to teams tonight–we’re adding an FLL scrimmage to the competition day. (Those that have referred to SCRIW as a scrimmage will finally be right–at least partially! )
Greetings, Palmetto and SCRIW III teams! We weren’t planning on nudging anyone again until the end of summer, but this news was too good to sit on.
With the help of veteran SCRIW volunteer and FLL Operational Partner Mary Graves, we are proud to announce that SCRIW III will host its first-ever FLL scrimmage during the competition Saturday, October 12 at Irmo High School. If you’re planning to mentor FLL teams this coming season, it will be a great early milestone to test their robot performance before the qualifiers begin a few weeks later. Add in the excitement of the FRC matches in the gym, and we think the teams will have a blast!
Registration for the SCRIW FLL Scrimmage is just $20 per team, and we are setting initial capacity at 20 teams. The registration page on the SCRIW website has been updated for FLL signups: http://scriw.org/team-registration-form/, and we’re more than happy to answer any questions you may have.
On the FRC front, we’re thrilled to highlight that we’re almost halfway to capacity with 14 great teams:
281 EnTech GreenVillains
