Greetings all SCRRF Teams:
It is that time of year again! The third annual SCRRF preseason scrimmage will take place at Chatsworth High School this year on February 16th. As was the case last years, we will have an inspection process prior to competition. Please be aware that these inspections are unofficial and are not guaranteed by FIRST, but are more of an advisory.
Inspections will be carried out in a method similar to the way they are carried out at official FIRST events. The inspector will show up at the team’s request and will inspect the robot for possible violations. If there are problems, the team will have the chance to correct them and be re inspected. This will occur until the team meets all the criteria. The inspections will differ from FIRST in that if a team fails an inspection, they will likely be allowed to compete in most cases, as long as they have the permission of the lead inspector or head referee. The only types of violations that will keep teams from competing are major safety violations that endanger the team members, field, or event staff. The main purpose of the inspections is to identify and hopefully remedy any rules problems teams may have before the Los Angeles Regional so they will pass inspection smoothly at the regional.
It is the desire of the SCRRF to let the inspections be carried out by the veteran teams on all the teams. Therefore, we need your help! What we are requesting includes two parts, one each for veteran teams and rookie teams.
All VETERAN teams: You will be doing the actual inspecting. Therefore, we are requesting that all veteran teams with a minimum of two years experience provide an inspector familiar with the building rules to help with the inspections. The SCRRF will provide inspection sheets, clip boards, and badges to all inspectors. All inspectors will report to Ric Roberts, who is the Head Inspector.
All ROOKIE teams: We request that you have your person(s) responsible for your team being compliant with the rules, follow along with an inspector to be able to observe what the inspection process is like in hopes of being more prepared for the official FIRST inspection at the Los Angeles regional. The person you provide is not an actual inspector, but is rather an official observer who is there to gain knowledge rather than inspect.
Please reply to Ric Roberts with the name of your inspector at: [email protected]
We hope to see you there and hope this event will be the most awesome SCRRF event ever!
Thank you,
Ric Roberts
