Subject: [RoboEducators] Programming Institute
Hi All,
Tomorrow five RoboEducator instructors will meet at 9:00 AM in Rocklin,
CA to develop a six week curriculum package for programming. We invite
you to become a part of it. A new group, RoboEducatorsParallax has been
developed to report information regarding the workshop, to post
questions the development group may have for the general audience of
robotics educators, and to generally become a place to discuss the
programming unit. If you would like to provide input to the group
please join the discussion at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/RoboEducatorsParallax/. This email group
will remain active as teachers implement the curriculum so that if you
are interested in running the curriculum you will have sustained
support.
As you recall the purpose of the institutes is to create 6 week modules
for a robotics course. You will be able to mix and match any of the
units. The curriculum guidelines are posted on the RoboEducators
website at http://www.roboteducators.org. Parallax has been very
generous in providing the webspace and the resources for posting the
website on their server. Thank you Ken Gracey for hosting this
institute and your web support!
We will be establishing other newsgroups and be posting information
about the other institutes as they happen. The next institute will be
at Solidworks in Massachusetts Aug. 4-8, 2003. SMC will have a
pneumatics workshop Aug. 18-23. And there will be a Motors and Drive
train workshop Aug. 25-28. By the end of this summer there will be a
Programming unit, Pneumatics unit, CAD unit, Structures unit, and
Motors and Drivetrain unit, available for your use.
Over the course of this week the team in Rocklin will be posting daily
updates to the list. After this week only digests from the group will
go to the list. If you want more information about the unit or help in
implementation please post to the group
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/RoboEducatorsParallax/
I hope the summer is going well for you all. Regards,
Ken
