SDS 2024-25 | Product Releases & Updates

Okay, thx
I didnt have the chance to look at a cad file earlier today, but not uppon looking at it ya 0.25"
Thx for the confirmation

This last season we used WCP inline bearing blocks, might switch over or run a combo

This is a cool idea (and the first Iā€™ve heard of cam followers). They do seem like the right tool for this job.

Any chance youā€™ll make replacement cam followers available or recommend a source? The usual sources sell them for more than the cost of the whole bearing block. I assume theyā€™ll be less like to break than the bearings they replace, but still would probably be a good idea to have spares.

Misumi.

Grainger.

Professional experience says itā€™s a 50-50 but Misumi (particularly for metric) has a really good chance at being a discount from McMaster. Grainger is about 25% chance of being cheaper enough to make a difference.

Those two also are far too expensive (around the same as MMC prices, i.e. > $25 each). Amazon has a pair for $20, and thereā€™s options on Aliexpress for much less, but for many reasons buying from SDS would be preferable.

I generally find that Misumi is far cheaper than MMC, for what Iā€™m looking for, including and especially cam followers (and anything in the metric system). You can believe me or not, but Iā€™ve got experience specifically digging up cam followers.

That doesnā€™t mean itā€™s cheap.

Could you possibly include STEP models for the CAD? I am unable to open the .x_t files that these use in Inventor. :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

KR16 rollers are only a couple dollars each on AliExpress (0.125mm larger than 5/8"), but the thread is metric, either M6 or M8. Itā€™ll be hard to find imperial ones for a decent price unless you buy in bulk.

I didnā€™t have any issues opening either .x_t file in Inventor (2025), and have previously opened most of SDSā€™s .x_t files in previous versions of Inventor.

Just change the ā€œFiles of typeā€ to ā€œAll Filesā€ in the open dialog.

Iā€™m still on 2020 (Iā€™m holding onto it as long as I can cause every time I upgrade it seems to break some feature permanently), so it gives me the ā€œthis file is a newer version than Inventor can readā€ error.

STEP files basically never have this issue, and generally donā€™t care what version they were created or opened in.
