We just had an SDS MK4 bearing go bad. The bearing appears to have picked up some grime from the carpet and it started grinding. We haven’t driven in competition yet and have about 3ish hours or so of drive time on it. We have done some maintenance and the bearing will work through practice, but it clearly has a flat spot and will not work for competition. Has anyone else had a problem with these?
I’d suggest implementing a regular maintenance routine to clean the bearing races, and possibly look at 3d printing some sort of shielding.
We are considering Thriftybot Sealed bearings for next year. Probably a worth while upgrade.
