The SOAP Team is looking for (at a minimum) VHS copies of the following Regionals. We’re wondering if there are any teams willing to contribute to the largest video collection effort ever. Some teams have signed up already. PM us if you will be able to help.

**Even if you can’t make a copy at the Cleveland regional… Can someone record the webcast or record NASA TV? PLEASE~!? **
Recording webcasts is illegal unless you get permission from NASA.
If you want to do it the program to use would be “Streambox VCR”. I suggest a google search.
I don’t mean to deter you as much as I meant to cover my own hide. While I don’t condone the recording and re-distribution of copyrighted content, I don’t believe NASA will care that much if you record the webcast. They aren’t profiting from it in any way, so it’s not like they are losing anything.
In the end, just e-mail them and ask if it is okay to record and re-distribute their webcast. Recording it off the computer is no different than recording it off the TV.
Nah. Thanks for the advice. I will try to ask them and see what happens.
I don’t intend to sell the copy of webcast or anything… Just thought they will be great assets for teams in the future to look at robots, and study strategy, etc. There are millions of reasons to do it, and very few against doing it.
And you are right, downloading it onto the computer is just like recording the TV. Its kinda like listening to the radio, and recording the song, or like mp3’s. It doesn’t really hurt anyone if you don’t sell it for profits. Ah well, no need to think about this now.
