Similar to previous post, now with different regionals.
The SOAP Team is looking for (at a minimum) VHS copies of the following Regionals. We’re wondering if there are any teams willing to contribute to the largest video collection effort ever. Several gracious teams have signed up already. PM us if you will be able to help.
I can possibly do some of NJ, not all of the matchs though, just my team. Is that enough?
Digital8 tapes only have 60minutes of film and 100 matches would eat up 60gigabytes of HD space, I don’t have that much:(
1127 MAY (there’s about a 40% chance that this’ll happen) be able to work out some sort of highlights show of Peachtree/GA in a digital format. I’m going to half to talk with Paul and the owner of the camera about it.
Thanks for the feedback so far. Here’s a little more detail on what we’re after.
At a minimum a simple VHS copy of all-day Friday (matches, awards) and all-day Saturday (matches, allinace pair, elims, awards) can be mailed to us back here in Florida. We’ll take the time to digitize.

**I’ll be glad to send you a video tape your way of the LI regional if I can persuade my parents to rent a video camera. **

We need all-day Friday and Saturday on VHS. The footage must also be the FIRST Feed w/ the 2:10 clock, not a personal camera shooting from the stands.
Actually, with the right codec we’ve gotten 320x240 at ~30fps to 8MB per 2:00 match. So, a 100 matches is < 1GB.

If I understand correctly (and this should help getting volunteers) all that is needed is a VCR and some blank tapes. FIRST provides connections to hook into their video feed directly. I whish I could help but I will not be at any of the regionals that are still lacking. Good luck getting what you need - you guys do all of us a GREAT service.

Correct. There is a “Press Feed” or “FIRST Production Feed” to tap into. Ususally near the stage / A/V equip, but sometimes also in the Pit. Note: make sure this feed is the one where the game clock / match number / team number video overlay is present. (Finally, after many years of begging, Jeff/Bruce/Eric/et al got more than just the clock on the feed!!)
Also from experience we highly recommend your own RCA cables and sometimes BNC to RCA adapters (find 'em at Radio Shack). The A/V Crew only has so many spares that they are willing to lend you.
