Seeking Mentors/Advisors

Hey Everyone,

Our team, Milpitas Xtreme Robotics (Team 1120), is looking for mentors to advise our members every week after school and during build season. We’ve been out of FRC for 2 years, and are just getting back in this year, and we can’t do it without finding mentors! So if any of you are interested or can help us find someone, that would be great.

Btw, we’re in Milpitas, California (Silicon Valley)
Thanks.

There are definitely mentors in your area that can help your team. You need to talk to companies and other FRC teams to see if they would like to be a contact for your team. Having a nearby FRC team contact can sometimes be better than mentors who are new to FIRST, but having both is even better !

Check out mentorsearch , you should be able to find a few contacts and mentors.

PM if you need help finding contacts or teams nearby.

May I make the suggestion that you also might want to contact any regional robotics committees and see if they can provide any assistance. In addition to this, contact the technical societies in your community, and call a couple of the teams around you to see if they have suggestions. Last, but not least, you should contact your Regional Director and see if he has any suggestions.

Also possibly of benefit would be to view some of the rookie team materials, especially those dealing with the recruitment of mentors. Even though you are not a “rookie team” persay, it could be very beneficial. This is especially true as your team has been not competing for the past two years.

I assume you’ve already contacted Ceal and Tim Craig, since they used to mentor your team and are like really important in the WRRF and stuff.

You could also try contacting team 604 specifically, since they are sort of in your area and have mentored some rookie teams recently.
