Is it legal to cut the serial cable connecting radio to the RC and shorten it? I thought I saw a rule that said it was legal to shorten/lengthen some wires, but I can’t find it now. Thanks in advance.
I wouldn’t go to the trouble of actually cutting the cable, I would just get a shorter one or tiewrap the slack or something…
Clearly, if I had any sense at all, that’s what I would do. But instead, I feel like creating extra work for myself. It’s not like I don’t have enough work already, it’s that I behave in nonsensical ways. I’m compelled to cut the serial cable to make it the perfect length. The manual says it’s acceptable to shorten/lengthen Control Cables with 3 conductors or fewer such as PWMs as long as the connections are insulated.
if your still tracking this thread, we had the same issue, i simply wired a strait-thrugh 9 pin cable with a male and female DB9 from radio sha… I MEEN DIGIKEY! anyway it works fine, but if they make us take it out for the compitition we have a premade backup… - JACOB
make your own. its much prettier than having a splice in the middle of the premade ones.

It is illegal to cut these cables as they contain more than 3 wires. You either have to zip-tie them into a little bundle or make your own from scratch.

You make it sound dreadfull, I went out to radioshack to get the connectors and then put the thing together (yes all 9 pins) in less then an hour… its not THAT bad
