What do you think of a game piece grabbing system using a servo as shown as a mini prototype below:
Quite possible–these game pieces are small and light.
With that said, I’d prefer a small pneumatic cylinder or a throttle motor. (Wait. Did I just say those last two words?)
If that’s a standard servo, it will be far too fragile. The splines on the nylon bell crank will fail.
There are larger servos with aluminum bell cranks…might have a chance with them.
Servos used to be limited to 5 watts, but i think that’s gone away.
While that is a beautiful design, servos don’t tend to hold up well for the rigors involved in interacting with game pieces in FRC. That could potentially be used for cubes but I’d seriously doubt it’s capability to hold cones well enough, or survive the shaking around that would happen while drive with a cone in it.
