Since 5586 Bond Brigade had a rather poor showing (48th) at the Wisconsin Regional 3 weeks ago, our small team (under 20 students) have decided to rebuild our robot on day 1. We are gutting our passive gear system, ball intake, hopper and shooter and replacing it with a gear pickup and delivery system and widening our lift mechanism. We have our work cut out for us, but we are all excited about it and are looking forward to the competition.

Are you bringing in any prefab or are you planning to fabricate the parts in the pits? I know our team brought 29.8 pounds of prefab and a well thought out plan and it took us almost the entire day to get it all installed and working.

Whatever happens I wish you all luck and I’ll be sure to keep my eye on y’all on the livestream.

Thanks. The mechanism is prefabricated and currently mounted on our practice chassis. It shouldn’t be too difficult to install but we do have to install a pneumatic system to go with it.

A Seven Rivers thread already exists - https://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?t=150469.

It’s a 6 month old thread in the wrong forum about the creation of the new regional. This thread is for the competition itself…

Webcast will be hosted on FUN’s Twitch page (no practice day feed) https://www.twitch.tv/firstupdatesnow

Note: I am working with the AV crew to get a better feed than what was originally planned. We had short notice on the output feed quality but I will do what I can.

The latest posts were made about a week ago, but whatever floats your boat.

Looking forward to a great event with some amazing teams.

Hoping everything goes smooth as we are new at this.

If you are on-site, please find me and say “Hi.” I’ll be the stressed out
guy with a radio on. :]

I knew that, but I posted this thread anyways.

I’ll be sure to check your team out.

I’m really looking forward to this regional as well as our team. This is our team’s first second regional.

This is only my second year with robotics. Last season was spent as a fascinated parent and this is my rookie year as a mentor. I’ll be the confused-looking middle aged man wearing a bow-tie (on Friday and Saturday).

5826 competed at North Star last week. Kind of nice to just keep everything on the dolly and ready to roll. We hope the robot feels the same way. We went
4-0 to start then had all sorts of mech issues and went 0-4! All seemed in order when we bagged it up…

This is going to be a great FIRST regional for the area. So excited to see so many teams and volunteers are going to be at this event!

On behalf of team 2830, I’d like to thank all of the people who made this event possible. The venue was great and it was hard to tell that this was a first year event.

A big thank you to our alliance partners of 2451 and 1625. You guys performed excellently and your experience was incredibly valuable. I’d also like to thank some of 1732’s strategy mentors for coming out to help us. This was our first time in a picking position so having that level of experience was huge for us.

Another big shout out to the winning alliance of 1986, 2062 and 5442. You guys were a powerful alliance and if we had to lose, I’m glad it was to an alliance like you.

We had a great time at this event and our kids are stoked for St. Louis.

Tip of the hat to the event organizers. You could not tell they were Rookies! Of course it was simply a new venue, I suspect almost all the folks involved are by now seasoned veterans from working other events.

It was a fantastic event. I couldn’t tell it was a rookie event, but that’s an opinion from a rookie mentor. ::rtm::

I couldn’t be more proud of our team - we basically spent the past 2.5 weeks redesigning our robot and tore it down to the chassis for the required rebuild. I think our team learned a lot of valuable lessons this past weekend. That being said, I do wish we would be more receptive to accepting help from other teams as it was offered plenty of times throughout the event.

Actually, over half of the event volunteers were first time FIRST volunteers. There was a tremendous amount of support from the MN/WI/IL core groups though.

Team 2194 had a great time at the Seven Rivers Regional. We are looking to coming back next year.

Thanks to the Organizing Committee, the FTAs, the queuing crew, the officiating team and the field reset team for getting us 10 qualification matches with 51 teams, and always being well ahead of schedule. I don’t remember ever getting out of a FIRST regional event on time. All of the volunteers at LaCrosse were awesome

Thanks also to our eliminations alliance partners, 3276 The Toolcats and 1091 Oriole Express. Your teams were great to compete with, and we definitely gave the champions all they could handle.

Congratulations to the competition champions, 1986 Team Titanium, 2062 CORE, and 5442 Mechanical Monarchy. Also to the CA winners 1306 BadgerBOTS and EI winners 3381 Droid Rage. We look forward to competing with you in St. Louis.

There was a great group of rookie teams there, and we look forward to competing with you in the future. Special props to Rookie All Stars 6420 Fire Island Robotics and Rookie Inspiration 6419 ICE.

On behalf of the rest of Team 48 Delphi E.L.I.T.E., I wanted to thank the planners and volunteers of the Seven Rivers Regional for putting on an organized and really fun inaugural event. La Crosse was a neat experience with plenty of hotels right next to the venue, with everything right on the Mississippi River. Many great restaurants and shops in the vicinity too. And the ice cream at The Pearl was excellent!

Many thanks to our Alliance Captains Team 4655 Stateline Robotics for picking us. You have a quality team and machine, and we were happy to pair with you - thanks for trusting us to perform despite our many climbing issues during qualifying. Speaking of that, thanks to our old friends Team 2826 Wave Robotics for not only rounding out our alliance and forming a really powerful four-rotor force, but perhaps more importantly for helping fix our climbing problem ahead of the elims. Thanks for sharing! I just wish our alliance could have made it to the finals to get both of you guys to St. Louis - may the waitlist gods be forever in your favor. You are both very deserving.

Congratulations to all winners, finalists, and award winners - well deserved accolades for all. For our part, even though we finished the event at a scintillating 5-10-0 record overall, we couldn’t be happier with how the event played out. The fact the judges gave us the Quality Award despite our climb struggles means we must have been doing something right, at least. :stuck_out_tongue:

Over the weekend, we integrated a new motorized gear intake, improved our gear scoring, added a camera for better visibility, introduced a new copilot who integrated flawlessly with the rest of the drive team, installed an upgraded dual 775pro climber that can capture and consistently climb in under 5 seconds (perhaps faster), and with Wave’s help, fixed our rope acquisition problems completely. We participated in our first-ever four rotor matches, contributed to a 4 RP match with 1986 and 3276, and showed we could contribute both offensively and defensively in the elimination rounds as needed, including under defensive pressure. Those semifinals were some classic down and dirty matches.

We now have a week to improve intake performance, tune existing auto modes, add some corner peg auto modes, and practice before the STL Championship. We are very optimistic we can be a major player there and are very much looking forward to competing.

Happy to see Tyler Olds and FIRST Updates Now present to do a Gameday live segment during the Seven Rivers elims. Wasn’t no live band like in Canada, but I appreciated the analysis and commentary from Tyler and Nick Coussens.

Finally, many thanks to our friends on Team 2451 PWNAGE for hosting a wonderful cookout lunch for our teams at Riverside Park on the banks of the Mississippi on Friday. They are an all-around class act team and program (even though they are Chicago Cubs fans - I try not to hold that against them… ), and I’m looking for even better things out of them at St. Louis.

All in all, Seven Rivers was a wonderful experience, and I highly recommend it to any “far away” teams who might be looking for a travel regional. Hey Glenn Lee, looking at you here.

Big thanks to all the volunteers and those involved in running the regional for keeping everything on schedule and a fantastic regional experience. CORE 2062 had a great time at the Seven Rivers Regional and are looking forward to coming back again next year.

Thanks to 1986 for picking us. You guys have the best shooter in the world and it will be hard for anyone to keep up with you guys in St. Louis. 5442, you guys were the steal of the draft. Reliable auto, 4-5 gears a match and climbing every time, not sure how everyone else overlooked you, but we are glad they did. We hope that we can team up with both of you guys in the future.

Congratulations to **1306 ** on the Chairman’s Award, 3381 for Engineering Inspiration, and **6420 **for Rookie All Star. All truly well deserved.

This is my tenth year attending FIRST events. Seven Rivers was a treat. Event was well run. Venue itself is comfortable.

But, hands down one of the best locations for a regional I’ve seen. LaCrosse WI is a wonderful small town with many fun (and affordable!) restaurants within walking distance of the venue. There was lots of parking, much of it free. Will definitely check out the multiple hotels across the street from the LaCrosse Center in the future.

Can’t say enough about the overall atmosphere - this is an ideal event to get your robot fix and have a fun weekend with friends.
