Does anyone have a HOW TO video on using shim tape on gears and hubs? Its be a painful experience so far for us.

I actually ended up with a lot of small cuts in my fingers trying to do it myself.
I’d definitely be interested to see how others do it. @jjsessa I know you said your team does it on any PID controlled systems.
I practically gave up and started using Locktite 680 gap filler instead because it was such an ordeal.

There are a couple youtube videos on shimming airsoft guns that help and correspond to FRC
i’m curious what shim tape you are trying to use? my team is trying shim tape for the first time this year and we had no such issues. we bought the mcmaster 1/4" wide, 0.004" thick shim tape.

And based on the photo from the process photos I’m seeing linked above it’s just the method I was using was wrong and so I ended up with a short and sharp flap to fold over the deboss of the gear.
Yes this is the same shim tape we have. The technique from 4414 is something we will try. Definitely not the way we were attempting.
