ship ontime?

I have a question, how many teams actually plan to ship ontime? (Tuesday the 18th instead of the extended deadline of Thursday)

Why ship Tuesday? Make your drivers and programmers happy, and give them some time to “play” with the robot. That’s what we’re doing. We’re ready to ship, but we’re using the extra time to practice driving and refine our autonomous program.

we are shipping wednesday cause we never had plans to stay at our practice field later than wednesday. We are just taking the extra day to put an extra coat of paint on it, but now we can actually let it dry :).

We couldn’t drive Sunday/Monday because of the blizzard.

I forgot to put this in my initial post, but my team (360) is planning to ship on Wednesday. Use today and a little bit of tomorrow to play with the robot, look at potential drivers, work out kinks in the programming, etc etc etc. Besides, we had originally planned to be done today (Tuesday) because we have the day off because of a faculty retreat, and well, trying to pull long days at robotics on school days doesn’t fly too well with some parents, mine in particular. Anyways, hope you all make the best of the time we have left!
PEACE!

we shipped ontime because we’re afraid that we may mess up the robot before we actually get the thing outta our shop.

I thought the reason that they extended the shipping date was because they are unable to deal with the robots so soon. I don’t know but… All I know is that the extension was a god send for our team!

We were ready to ship tuesday, but since we have the extra 48 hours, we are taking advantage of it for driver practice, adding a few more bits + pieces to the bot, etc…

We’ll obviously be ready for thursday.

Instead of using regionals to get our stacker working, we can get it working now!

I’m pretty happy about the extension. We had no idea how many little things need to be done!

Will post pictures of our robot tomorrow!

We didn’t need the extra time, we shipped on Tuesday

Note: This just means we can put our bot through inspection and compete with it out of the box (assuming it does not break)… this does not mean we don’t have a few improvements we could make.

yeah, I’m on Julia’s team and our team had sort of mixed reactions. On the one hand our programmer was happy enough to get the extra day or so for autonomous and so was the James (electronics) to clean up the little mess of wires that don’t get along well with the rotating parts. We did need to get rid of two pounds on the robot however. Some of us are kinda tired of this though in a way, I mean papers due and everything but really I think it is better this way and will help make the regional more interesting with less dead robots on the field now that we have time to fix everything. You know how so much of the robot is built the last 3 days? It is worth over a week sometimes…and now it is almost like another week added (if time was measured in progress on the robot.)

Ok…that probably didn’t make much sense at this hour…I have to get this chairman’s paper done…

goegan31: the deadline was in fact extended because of the blizzard that has paralyzed the entire eastern part of the united states.

we were ready to ship tonight, but the two day extension is very nice. we drove a bit tonight, and discovered a couple of height issues, as well as problems with the structure of one of our mechanisms. yay for blizzards (well, at least that’s what the west coasters are saying…)

I’ll take an east coast blizzard any day! We don’t get enough snow around here (Seattle), I blame global warming 'cause it sure seemed like we got at least one snow day a year when I was in elementary.

Anyway, our team will definitely be shipping on thursday, I liked goegan31’s metaphor: god send.

Here is what Team 360 isn’t telling you.
When we were 2 pounds over on Monday,
We took it apart.

All of it.

Every nut and bolt.

Apart.

To save weight.
We also redid a few other things that bothered us. We are hoping that Thursday will be be practice matches, inspection and Lexan. We did find alot of weight but now we gotta put it back together tonight (wed) because it is in the crate wed night.

To be honest I was looking forward to going home at dinner time tuesday…Its OK. We got two coats of paint on it. (first year I managed paint on a robot)

We shipped on Thursday, and we still aren’t quite sure of which pistons are on which relays. We also are having problems with the preferred directions of the drill motors. We’re also 8 lbs over (after shaving off (literally) nearly 30 lbs) and haven’t attached half of our third module.

I went to work on the robot before school on Thursday, (block day; class = 86 mins) and, ten minutes into second period, helped get the 'bot to the curb. I’m just glad neither of the teachers of my afflicted classes were angry.

Team 990 needs a miracle . . .
