Whats the best angle for a shooter (we are being inspired by the Quokkas robots)? Right now we are trying to figure out the best angle for our shooter so that the notes do not come out of the speaker after it’s been shot.
Also, we are concidering using 2 brushless NEOs for our shooter and we wanted to know what the best RPM would be if we don’t want our note to come out the wrong way of the speaker.
Picking your angle is going to depend on how far away from the speaker you want to shoot from. The KitBot, which is designed to shoot from the Subwoofer, is at a 55ish degree angle from the horizontal.
Picking RPMs is a matter of tuning. I recommend starting at about 50% motor speed and slowly increasing it, sampling 10 or 20 shots per speed you’re using.
Just a word of warning - RPM and angle values that work for other teams may not necessarily work for you. Factors like shooter elevation, gear ratio, and other design choices may significantly alter the trajectory of notes you shoot.
Numbers from other teams could be a good place to start, but you’ll still need to do some tuning to get it to work on your bot.
