is your AMP built correctly with the sloped top? I cant tell based off the camera angle and this wasn’t the result i expected
I can confirm the angled deflectors were in the amp at the time of this video.
Not to be a bother, but did you manage to get anything last night?
We did a bit more testing. we had a small make up meeting yesterday. We typically don’t meet on Wednesdays. We tried various ways of shooting the notes: two vertical wheeled shooters and two horizontal rollers. I am not comfortable saying it’s consistent yet. We didn’t get as many reps on it as l’d like. We had other priorities that night. But we did notice that success is really speed dependent. Slower shots bounced out more than the faster shots did. We will have more data tonight or Friday. Unsure of where this sits of the priority list for the next two meetings.
We were able to get quite a few tests in last night using one of our predefined shooter angles with a variety of materials used to stop the note from bouncing out. I was able to record a few of our tests so feel free to take a look.
Interesting, what percentage of the time was this configuration successful (even if just an estimation )?
After 20+ attempts of the 2 inch scrap at the specific height we chose, we had not had any failures. We tried using hex shaft similar to cranberry alarm, different thicknesses of polycarb sheets, and other materials but this one gave us the most success with the least amount of space.
That looks promising! How high off the ground was the piece of 2 inch scrap?
We’ve been testing shooting into the amp with the same mechanism that we’d shoot into the speaker, just slower power and changing the launch angle (and at a distance where our bumper would be pressed up against the amp), and we’ve managed to do it, but it’s really inconsistent. Last night I think we got 10 out of 100 shots in.
32.5” I believe
Do you remember the angle of the shooter and its horizontal distance from the amp?
Prototype… definitely not a human.
40 degrees and pretty close to 3 inches (bumper length) away.
I’m still a fan of duct taping a toilet seat to the bot and just have it open the lid to filp it in
John… i hate this. Good work lol
We did it, pretty reliabilly, with a angled backboard or sorts. Shooter at 50 degrees above the floor.
Have you tried using the deflector for the trap as well? Probably too much optimism
Our students decided it was a “could have” so our climber subsystem and shooter subsystem groups have not been looking into the possibility at the moment but we could probably take a look once we iron out other design decisions in this coming week.
Long-distance amp shots are going to be the new red herring!
