The Great Googly-ing of the 2025 Wisconsin Regional

In keeping with my previous ventures with googly-eyed robots, (Fun (legal) Robot Decorations), I decided to use some of my robot inspector downtime on Friday at the Wisconsin Regional to distribute googly eyes to other teams. A student’s mom made these eyes for our robot. They were stuck on by magnets and didn’t make it past a few practice matches in the lab.

The mom also got large eyes that we stuck on our cart. We only lost one of them during our last competition.

we added googly eyes because why not. also fun fact, we didn’t add the pirate eye patch when we first designed sid, on our first version of this bot, sid had 2 eyes but in our first regionals (at about 58 seconds into the match) comp, the panel the eyes were on fell off and one broke and our design team leader made an eye patch.
