Simplified field model?

I’m looking for a simplified model of the 2020 field. I know about the Automation Direct 3D printing model, but unfortunately that won’t work for my purposes as I’m looking for a model of the entire field. Does anybody have such available?

I found the NASA field viewer model at https://robotics.nasa.gov/first/vr/assets/fe-2020.obj (material file at https://robotics.nasa.gov/first/vr/assets/fe-2020.mtl), which seems like it will work for me.

Still looking for a simplified field for Inventor. Anyone have any luck? I keep crashing when trying to simplify it.

What exactly do you mean by “simplified?”

Can Inventor not import OBJs?

I don’t know anything about Inventor (we use Solidworks), but my post earlier in the thread was to an OBJ file which is simpler than the official field models. You could try importing that and simplifying it if you’re running our of RAM for the simplification process, which I would guess is the case.

The field model is MASSIVE, showing every element, nut, bolts, etc. down to the most minute detail. Most teams don’t need that level of detail and many are running CAD on limited performance computers.

It would be great if there were a simplified CAD model of the field that was dimensionally accurate, but left out the non relavent details.

If I have time, I’ll model & upload something.

I see. Thanks for the clarification. I might try to simplify the Inventor model because that model is essentially unusable on our school computers :joy:

@Billfred simplified the field a bit and there are some other models available here:
