SketchUp Pro - Urgently need file export help

Folks,

Exec Summary: I have 11 Logomotion field model files in SKP format (for the Logomotion 5th Gear FRC match simulator) - I want to get them exported into FBX format directly from a copy of SketchUp Pro. Would someone who has a SketchUp Pro license like to volunteer to do the conversion?

Longer version:
This year, getting the 5th Gear Simulator’s Graphics models to work well is giving us fits, and is (still) delaying our initial release of the simulator.

One of our approaches to getting past our problems was to draw a field model using the free version of SketchUp.

The file format we need in our simulator (built on Microsoft’s XNA game engine) is FBX. Because the free version of SketchUp doesn’t export FBXs, we have been using a SketchUp plugin and Blender to accomplish the transformation from SketchUp to an FBX; and something is going wrong (polygon winding getting messed up?).

I know other tools, including Blender, can (supposedly) accomplish what I need (either the file conversion/export or drawing the initial model); and I know that I can even add my own model importing routines to XNA; but for better or worse, right now, what we have is what we have. Maybe next year I’ll learn yet another modeling tool and get to enjoy a new version of this fun.

So, I am hoping some kind Chief Delphi soul will 1) have a copy of SketchUp Pro, and 2) have a few minutes to contribute to this season’s 5th Gear work by helping us create an FBX version of our model. I suspect we would be delighted to list that person in the scrolling credits for this season’s game.

Blake,

Send me a PM. I’ve got a friend with a license who would be willing to let me use it to convert a file.

PS: You’re aware Sketchup Pro has a free trial, no?

Great! Will do.

I had forgotten it (Insert a Homer “Doh!” here); but I think the reasons I did are because the trial only lasts for 8 hours; and having the non-Pro version free forever pushed the other option out of my head.

If I thought everything I modeled was 1000% perfect I suppose the 8 hour trial would be useful as a one-time export method, but… you know how that goes.

Problem “solved” - Thanks Chris
