Smallest Einstein Team Captain?

This year was the first year my team was an alliance captain at Worlds in Tesla, which resulted in us winning our division. When we started thinking about it, most of the captain’s at Einsteins were powerhouse teams like 125, 1986, etc. We are only a team of 9. Are there any teams smaller than that who were alliance captain’s at Einsteins?

Alliance Captain, not team captain

And here I was thinking you meant how tall they were:rolleyes:

330’s first championship win had a team of 10 students, back in '05. Not sure what the '16 edition had as far as students…

Nope, you’re still smaller.

973 is a fairly small team (for their level of success), if I’m not mistaken. I think around 20?

We’re tied at 9 in '16. (I think 7 were in attendance at the championship)

I’d imagine '05 and '16 are the smallest Einstein winning teams.

We had 19 students this past year.

Wow I never realized you guys were a small team! You guys achieved so much more with that many students though than we did. It would be awesome to talk to someone from your team sometime about team structure to see how you guys manage having that many people that well.

Thanks for the answers everybody! We were just trying to get an idea of how big other teams are in comparison.

I didn’t realize your team had so few members. You certainly project and perform above your weight class!

Remember back to semi-finals at St. Joseph in Week 2? We (5462, 1918, and 3452) got eliminated by 3620, 2767, and 5567. Two of us made it to championship division semi-finalists (3620 and 1918) and two became Einstein captains - including the eventual St. Louis Champions. That seems like so long ago.

Congratulations on a great season. We hope to see you again next year!

Thank you! We still remember working with you guys at St Joe! Since then, we have made some minor changes to our robot (improves our climber since it was horrible during quals, changed the angle where the gear falls from the feeder station and discovered a way to grab our robot easier, but besides that, we are essentially running the same robot, no major changes! It’s hard to believe Stryke Force won, they definetly deserved it! I have always loved seeing their robots and it’s great to be friends with the world champs. You guys did great this year too! With all the teams competing in each division, we’ve always considered it an honor to get picked, especially as a first. We are looking forward to another season with all of the Michigan teams and what it has to bring.

It is the minor changes that move you from good to great. Your team had a great season, building on strong and consistent progress over the last several. That you’ve accomplished so much with a small group makes it more impressive.

The robot competition gets better every year in our little corner of Michigan. I am looking forward to the 2018 edition.

Thank you! We are looking to develop our team more and experiment with more functions (shifting drivetrain, turret shooter, etc.) to allow us to do even better next year. We are trying to find a place to meet also that’ll allow us to be more efficient with our time (less set up and take down ti me) than in previous seasons, and also since we currently do not have a build site since we have had to move twice this year and are currently bumming out of a mentors shop. Long story short, we are looking to be more prepared next year, and hoping to have an even better season!

And I can agree with you about our little corner! Our team was proud of 4237 for making it this year! We worked with members of their team quite a bit this year following St Joe district event, and have got to know them pretty well. I’m really looking forward to the St Joe event next year since we will have a world champion attending and many world quality teams competing!

i know 5654 is a small team… they won galileo as alliance captain
i know that the are a small team, but i am not sure how many students…
when they were our alliance parteners at the isr dcmp one of them told me that the whole team is either the drive team or the field pit crew… so that gotta be small
