Smart autonomous setup using April tags

April tags let your robot know where it is positioned relative to the field. This is great for picking up and placing gamepieces during autonomous routines, but it’s also great for initially positioning the robot on the field. Triple Helix is using our LEDs to let the robot tell the field setup crew where to position the robot on the field.

We’re doing something similar- the robot knows where it is, so it drives to the correct position regardless of starting position.

Yep. We started doing the same thing, but found that we could shave off some milliseconds by starting from close to the same spot every time. Every little bit counts when you’re trying to squeeze in as many actions as you can in those 15 seconds.

A good point- we haven’t yet tried longer autos for which that would matter.
