I’m trying to get the smart dashboard to connect to my M1011 camera. I’ve set the IP address of the camera in the properties, but I still am not seeing any video. There’s only one network involved (the camera is plugged directly into the wireless hub). I can see the video in a browser to the same address, so that’s definitely working and available as an anonymous access. Is there some additional user ID or credentials that I need to specify to get the video working with the smart dashboard?
Yes, you need to enable the anonymous preview feature on the camera. This is a separate feature than simply being able to view the live stream via the web admin interface without logging in.
I don’t recall the exact submenu, but there is a checkbox for it in the web admin interface on the camera.
Once enabled, your SmartDashboard camera feed should start working.
Hmm… Well, it didn’t fix the issues. And, based on polling around at the championships, we were not the only team to have these problems. Fortunately, I spoke with Brad Miller from WPI and it would appear that the Smart Dashboard is being reworked a bit to address these and other issues as well as adding a few new features. So, there’s hope for next season at least.
