We put our first iteration of the belly pan on the robot today. Kit chassis, this is foam board, about 1/8" thick from the office supply store. Retained with the push things that are used to attach the plastic inner fenders and plastic belly pans on modernish cars.
A quick test drive revealed that it would indeed travel over a PC, as long as the PC is in the center area. But driving over a PC with the wheels results in ball damage, as most of us know by now.
Interesting, I’ve heard they will pull the ball in the little gap. Have you tested it much?
Yes, we tested a lot
We left back open with no belly pan to keep weight in wheels when a ball gets in there. Ball just squished out under frame rail.
Without wheel guards balls were getting sucked into front Omni wheels. Have not had that happen since.
We have not played yet, but have been running practice bot for over 3 weeks almost daily.
