My college room mate works in that lab.
He gave me a quick demo just under a year ago, and as part of it he made the snake climb my leg the same way that it climbs the tree in that video. In that moment, I realized two things: We are currently living in the future, and robot snakes do not yet understand the concept of “personal space”.
I saw a video of a quadruped robot with appendages similar to this snake. It was pretty interesting to watch.
