We are using a snow blower to turn a flap to get there position. It moves a total of 120 deg and we need three positions. Has anyone very put a sensor to measure angle/position on a snow blower motor or have any great ideas on how to do it
Have you thought of using a hall effect or limit switches?
the current plan is to put a pot on the end of the shaft but that is easier said then done so was hopping for a better solution.
We have looked into limit switch for the two end position but do not think it will work for the middle position
Limit switches can work for the middle position (it’s just a software thing )
Also a gear and hall effect sensor could work as well.
good idea about the gear and hall effect sensor. That seems a lot easier then the pot. Have you had problems with missing teeth count
You don’t really even need the gear. Using the hall effect sensor and magnet from WCP (or anywhere else really), you can put a magnet on the flap and hall effect sensors where you want the flap to stop. When the flap gets to the hall effect sensor, the magnet will trigger the sensor and you will know to stop the motor.
