So…
being a band geek, I’m wondering how any of you fellow FIRSTers out there are in band at you school/ college (or other music group, like chorus or orchestra). And also, what instrument do you play.
I play trombone in: wind ensemble, symphonic band (and marching band from september to november), both jazz bands, and from time to time brass quintet at my school.
i play clarinet…i was drum major this marching season, i’ve qualified for the top all-middle tennessee band and all-state band, and i am the clarinet player in our woodwind quintet…i’ve been playing for about 5 1/2 years now…BAND GEEKS RULE!!
this is my 9th year playing the trombone… i started in 3rd grade and am a senior now
i’ve been in the top band for 3 years playing the bass trombone
i was in jazz band from 6-8th grade, and 10 and 11th grade, but i couldn’t be in it this year because of IB
i was in marching band all of high school
and now i have to decide if i’m going to have enough time to continue in college, or if i’m gonna pack up Herbert (my t-bone’s name) for good…
I was in Band till 7th grade when i got pissed at my conductor and quit(i would still have to deal with her now if i didnt quit then) i am now in the Chorus and i do colorgaurd cause i miss my band geek friends…their the best friends i could ever ask for…really!!!if we didnt have the same director that we had in middle school i would probably still be in band cause those were some fun times…hehehe
Well I’m in A band but ALOT of the kids on the team are in the band. I’m more like an honerary band member because most of my friends consist of band geeks etc. My Band on the other hand is named ‘Lozer’ We play punk/alternative. If only we could afford to buy all the instruments needed. . . LoL.
I was in band from 5th grade all the way up to this year. Why up to this year? I’ve been trying to get out of it since I was forced into marching band by my parents. The only reason I got out of it this year is because of 2 things: my brother came to HS and he was playing football and soccer (I had to quit soccer because I had no time for it because of band) and he couldn’t be in band, so I convinced them that if he didn’t have to be in band, neither did I. Also, I convinced them that Electronics class in the vocational school connected to our school would have been a better class for me to take, so far I have been right.
I’m in band! I was in marching band this past year, and I am going to take Wind Ensemble next year. I have been playing the flute for 6 years now. BAND GEEKS RULE!!
I’m a flute and bassoon…been playing the flute for 5 or 6 years now…Basson for one…and this year, I got to play in my school’s Wind Ensemble …and Band Camp is the best!<—Bandos!
I play the saxophone and this was my first year in the marching band. Our team also has several students in orchestra, jazz band, marching band, and concert band.
I played trumpet for 7 years…and I sucked…I was forced into band. Luckily, I had a scheduling problem this year forcing me to have Sociology in place of band. Man, was I happy
I’m pretty musically inclined…I just don’t like to be forced into things. I’m a semi-decent guitarist. I used to play piano (and still can, sort of :P). I can play simple stuff on the harmonica…and I just plain suck at the trumpet.
Go Band!! I’ve been playing the flute for 6 years now! And band camp rules, despite the terrible tan lines! My fellow band geeks and i even bought snow hats that were personalized and we put Go Band on them! they’re perfect for our trip to NYC next month.
A lot of our team is in band also…we were going to get together to play the monty python Spam song until they banned noise from the stands!
Been in the band since 6th grade, I’m on my 4th year of marching, and…besides getting in the way of Roboitcs, I love it! I am one of those trumpet player, but my ego can fit in a room…well, ok a fairly large room.
yup… I’m a fellow band geek… I’ve been involved with music since I was 3 ish… I have been playing flute for 9 years now, piano for 7 years, and piccilo for 2 years. Umm, lets see… marching band, concert band, pep band, musical pit band… and basically when anyone asks me to play.
I’ve been playing the trombone since sixth grade, so this is my sixth year in band. I’m in symphonic band, jazz band, marching band in the fall, the orchestra pit (on the rare occasions we produce musicals), and the Roanoke Youth Symphony Orchestra. Oh… and I guess all-county, all-district, and all-state too.
Is anyone else in Virginia getting stressed about the district festivals?? We’ve lost about half of our preparation time due to snow…
