Software Install Size

I’m going to install the software on my memory-constrained laptop, and I’m wondering how much space is needed on the disk to install the Labview software, Windriver, and the corresponding updates. Does anyone have an approximation?

I believe around 200-300 MB max.

That includes Labview? I thought I remember all the Labview tools taking up quite a bit more.

From last year’s documentation, http://usfirst.org/uploadedFiles/Robotics_Programs/FRC/Game_and_Season__Info/2011_Assets/Kit_of_Parts/Getting_Started_with_the_2011_FRC_Control_System_Rev_A.pdf, 2.4gb. Tommorow, we’ll find out what it is for this year’s version.

But that is including the OS, without the OS, the documentation and libraries and programs total around 200 MB

15 MB for Documents
99MB for Labview
50MB for Library
No more than 35MB for Windriver (I have netbeans)

what do you mean by “Without the OS”?

I don’t know what the “OS” that you’re talking about is (are you saying that the 2.4GB includes Windows?), but my “national instruments” folder is 2.5GB. That’s 2.5GB that wouldn’t be there if I didn’t install it.

What the 2.5 GB referred to was the size of the Classmate “Reflashing” software. That included all the labview, libraries and development software and most importantly, pre-configured version of Windows 7. But from the sounds of it, he just wants the software.

Are you sure? Oh, not sure about that… There is no way I downloaded 2.5 GB worth of data onto the laptop…

edit: my mistake. the 99MB is just for the UPDATE

Here’s what I did. sizes is a script that uses du to find the size of each file in the directory.

It looks like there is 500MB of examples, but still.

EDIT: and isn’t windriver another 2.5 GB? That’s what I heard

My “National Instruments” folder takes up around 2.1 GB, but that’s without any robotics stuff, so I’d budget some space for that too.

Will we be getting a whole new version of LabView for this year

The kit includes a USB stick with the very latest version of LV, 2011.
